Hey Guys (and Gals) - got some pics and audio from our last gig of "the season"...
This is from our annual Church picnic a few weeks back...

Here we are - first time on an actual "stage" and the last time with our drum machine.
We've started working with a live drummer - woo-hoo! I am free!

And here's the requisite "Bongo action!" - I am diggin' the Bongo more each time I
play it - and the Band LOVES it's look and tone. I'm thinking I need a fretted one to
really give the Sterling a run for it's money! The fretless only comes out for a song
or two... Definitely deserves more time in the spotlight.

Ok, now here are a few samples from our set - we played a total of 28 songs and
these are some of my favorites. There's no flash here - just good, fun,
summer-time BBQ rock & roll music (all feature the Sterling):

Thanks Randy... We all went direct-out to a Carvin mixer to tape. Our first time with this new mixer.

Been doin' Brown Eyed Girl since the beginning of time... I Saw Her Standing There is a Band favorite... Havin' a Party was just added to the list - we plan on harmony-guitar leads to cover the sax-parts in the future.

Hey, that was fun. Thanks! You're gonna love having a real drummer.

And the MM tone on the little arpeggio at the end of Standing There put a smile on my face!

Is that the unlined fretless buttercream Bongo? I heard a rumor that it's a one off.

I was just listening to "Brown Eyed Girl".

Were you guys comminting armed robbery at the end of that?

Quote: "Nobody move, nobody moves....." :D

Larry - nice catch...

This started out as a "gig from hell"... We're back for our second year with this event, but there were problems with the kitchen. So the band goes on to entertain a predominantly senior and very hungry and cranky audience while the picnic committee works feverishly to get food going...

We cut our first set short because we got nothing but complaints about the volume - no one was interested in the band - everyone was angry they didn't have their hotdog yet! As a result, there was very little crowd interest in what we were playing.

We were totally bummed by the bad-energy. It was tough to get back up there for set two...

Second set we warmed them up slowly (and they had now been fed) and we started getting folks up to the band area. Brown Eyed Girl was one of the first songs from that 2nd set and it was well received - my cousin wanted to be sure we didnt lose a single person that came over to us! :)

Thanks Ed - that song is a blast to play. The entire Band looks forward to that ending and "whoops it up" everytime we rehearse it.

I have been campaigning for a live drummer for about a year. I run our Alesis drum machine via two foot pedals (starts, stops, fills & alternate back-beats) - it's just another thing I need to worry about on top of my playing and singing back-up. I am so excited about being totally focused on my playing as well as playing off the energy of a live drummer. :D

Buttercream, Bongo HSp unlined fretless - yes indeedy! There's a fiver out there, but I've yet to hear about another 4-stringer like mine.

Would love to hear from the official "stat keepers" on this one...
