Do any of you guys and/or ladies gig with EBMM Ltd Ed basses. I love my new Ltd. Ed Ray, but part of me doesnt want to gig with it, since its a Ltd. That would put me in a tough place, because, Im down to 2 basses right now, my SR5 thats a keeper and the Ltd. Since the Ltds arent too common, I may wind up offing it someone who wants to collect it or someone that doesnt feel bad about gigging it.

What should a man do?

Its a bass, you bonehead.

If I can play the Flame Bongo, you can play a Limited Edition.

Right?

Now go play your bass.

I think it should be sent to me for protection. My living room is the perfect bass vault.

Send it to me and I'll "only play it at church"

That way, it will get some gigging time and stay just as good as new. I have yet to have a drunken dancin' mama crash into me at church. No beer bottles have been thrown and it won't get all smokey.

I'll take really good care of it, just let me know when you want it back.

I just took delivery of a LE SR4 HH and I know what you mean. It's just so.....perfect. It seems like it out to be in one of those humidity-controlled glass cases. But then I remind myself.....it's a bass. A giant-killer mutha of a bass.

So I'm going to play it. A lot. :)

Since both of my 4's are limited runs I play them out almost every weekend - and since Kermit sounds so good I usually use him - without any regrets or fear. If you buy 'em you've got to play 'em otherwise you should have gotten a $6k table top bass and used it as... well... ummm... a table top.

The newly-acquired Ray I got from Ben is still showroom fresh...

...I'm going to thump the sh*t out of it tomorrow night!

With a little luck, it will come back unscathed...barring some drunken dental-challenged fool stumbling onstage to sing 'La Bamba' or 'Pride and Joy'...:D

I think it should be sent to me for breaking in and scuffing up. I'll teach it gig "etiquette" as well. Just give me 24 months notice and it will be returned to you on demand.

Damn it man! Are you a bass player or a bass collector!?

If you're a bass collector, send that bass to someone that wants to play it! There hasn't been an EBMM bass built that wasn't meant to be played!

I agree! Even limited edition gear deserves to see the real world, too. Or you could use it for special events only (if they come often, that is). :)

Play the bass!
I'll pick up a Ltd next week, and that bass is going to see both stage and studio use for sure.
Imho collecting is a bit sad, because that way you only get to appreciate a fraction of the beauty in a EBMM bass.

Taking good care of your instrument is another thing, though...

I've gigged with my 20th Anniversary Stingray, and I probably will with the HS Buttercream Sterling. I'm careful with them, and the stages have been spacious. I might not bring them to a small, rowdy bar situation.

When I had a 100th Anniversay Stingray (inca silver with Status graphite neck) I gigged with it. It already had a few dings when I got it, so that made it a little easier.

So yeah play it, but kick the crap out of anyone that gets too close to your "bass zone". :D

Yeah! Give 'em the Doc Marten Dental Plan if they get within spilling distance of your LTD!

You know, you guys have helped to change my mind a bit about the Buttercream Stingray that I have on order with Dude. It's a 4 string with a H/S pickup config which I know is rare for Buttercream. I was going to play it a little, then stuff it away in it's case to preserve it, but now I think I'll have a little bit more of an open mind about playing it. Of course, I'm going to have to get along with it first - I've never owned a Stingray, and I have smallish hands, so we'll see. If all else fails, I have a great pair of Bongos to fall back on.

If I could do it over again, I'd order a Buttercream Bongo 4 H/S instead.....I know I'd get along with that.
