OK So I have no friends and this forum is my only social contact with what I perceive to be the real world. So when the tiniest little bit of happiness comes into my life you good people are the ones I share it with. So, here is the latest event at the Norm Dorm.

I got the abalone topped guitar knobs for my BD Piezo Trem Silo with the abalone pick guard. Whoooooo!

My digital camera and internet connection allows me to post a picture here for you, my friends. The only ones who care.

There really is no hope for me and I will continue to do piddely stuff like this until the court order says to stop. Thank you for letting me share.

Norm, those are really nice. Where did you get the pickguard and knob covers, from Music Man or are they custom made? and are those EMG pick-ups in the Sil?

Norm, that was more than worth the post. Very fun guitar and very fun knobs. And I mean that in the least sketchy or gross way possible.

Dan. Thank You for your comments. Your high praise really makes me feel good. Again, Thank You!

Hookpunch, The abalone pickguard was offered by EBMM between the time I ordered my guitar and the time I received it. EBMM shipped it to me and it arrived 2 days before my guitar did. Yes those are EMG pups. The thread Active pickup upgrade covers this in detail. I found the knobs at a cool parts dealer in Florida or Chicago via ebay.

The knobs are just the tiniest bit smaller than the original ones. That actually works for me because there is now more room for me to get my fingers between them. They fit right on the EMG pots but the piezo pot shaft is a little bigger. I had to drill out the knob hole by 1/64 of an inch. Then it fit perfectly.

For the 20th anniversary Silo I had mentioned the idea of removing the Pickguard. I think it was JimiD that pointed out how the guard was very much a part of the guitar. Also, several people mentioned they wanted some sort of fret-board inlay for the 20th. Well here's an idea, knobs and dots to match the pickguard. It would look just as good with the pearloid and ice options as well.

As for the Norm model, I wish. Then I could buy a new guitar without thinking about all the stuff I would need to do to it. I would hope that with all the playing out I do, the contests, and owning 8 EBMM guitars that Ernie might be the slightest bit interested in such an idea. I would love to! I even have a cool logo that would look great under the MM logo on the neck plate (or head stock hmmmmmm) Attached is the logo I speak of.

Keep on the way your going and you will get a signature guitar model
EB should jump at the chance, before someone else signs you up

No knob jokes? Is this the EB forum I have known and loved?

Norm, don't worry about the knobs being smaller. I hear size doesn't matter.

(Nice setup dude.)

Very cool, Norm. Nice to see some of the other pickguard materials on an actual guitar, too. Great combo.
