Getting interested in buying a Gallien-Krueger Artist series amp. In researching the info, I find that some guys like the Classic 800 over the higher watt output 7001RB and 1001RB amps. When I check prices, I find that the 800 is more than the 7001 and around the same as the 1001. A friend of mine does sound contracts for big acts all over the state and he tells me that 9 times out of 10 the bass amp requested is the 800. To go along with that, a highly respected repair guy tells me that the 800 has a much better repair record than the newer
GK RB's. I've always been a guy who thinks more is better when it comes to RMS wattage output but in this case I'm not so sure. I think I'm starting to lean toward the 800 which I'm told has more than enough power to nicely drive my 15/6 EAW cab and my EV B-210 cab. Any thoughts or comments?
