A couple of my Gibsons have gloss finished mahogany necks, and I get around the "sticky hand" syndrome by (a) keeping them clean, and (b) lightly sanding the gloss finish every few months using the finest sandpaper I can find, which tends to turn the gloss finish into a satin finish.

Most experienced luthiers can sand the gloss finish off of the back of the neck and then satin or oil finish it for you. It shouldn't cost that much.
