Because we just converted to new forum software, it will take a while before the features allowing you to navigate to the first unread post catch up to your account.

Normally, to go to the first unread post in a thread you just need to click on the thread title. A thread will show posts as unread (bolded title) for 30 days; posts older than that are automatically marked as read.

However, this will probably not work for many new threads at first after the conversion to the new forum software. This is because the forum keeps track of what you've read in each thread in a table in the database (i.e., it uses database marking to keep track of your threads). Since the new software hasn't yet been active for 30 days, that means that all posts in the thread are seen as unread for now. The 30 day rule will kick in on December 30, 2021.

In the meantime, here's some tips for skipping all those posts that the forum thinks are new for you but actually may be days, weeks, months, or years old:

1. In the main forum list, click on the name of the thread to get to the thread list; then clicking on the date in the second column of the thread you're interested in (e.g., Today at 6:14 PM or Wednesday at 10.00 AM or Jan 5, 2021). This will take you to the last post in that thread. From there, you can scan backwards to find the last post you actually read.

2. Alternatively, you can click on the Mark forums read link in the under Forums in the secondary navigation bar (far right).

This will mark all posts in all forums as read so the next time you visit only threads with new posts will be bolded. Then you can click on the thread title and that should take you to the first new unread post in that thread. The New Posts link in the top navigation bar will show you a list of new posts you haven't yet read. The Recent posts link next to it in the top navigation bar will show you the latest threads with the titles bolded for threads containing posts you haven't yet read.
