Hey everyone,

Just letting you all know that I will be offline for a while. I live in Broward county Florida and my condo will not hold up to a direct hit from the hurricane. We are going to my wife's brother's place up in lake placid, Florida. We are in the process of packing all our stuff up and moving everything to the center of the condo. What a PAIN!!!! Anyway can't take all my basses or my app :(

Taking my Jazz Bass (only one will fit in the car with the dog and other stuff). Thank the lord I don't have my Bongo yet!!!

I will be making definate plans in the future to get a public storage that I can pay off for the year and have it ready for moving my gear and othe stuff into in case of another hurricane. My wife and I were here for hurricane Andrew and we were out of power for 3 weeks!!! I can only imagine what this one will leave us with.

As long as no one loses thier life, I'll be happy. I can replace a bass (well, you know what I mean).

bye all, I'll be back as soon as I can :(

hope all will be ok when you can return home.We got nailed by a little one last year (Hurricane Jaun) and lost about 20 trees in the backyard.Power was out for days.I was actually gigging that night and drove home in the tail end of it.Worst drive of my life.We had never really been nailed before so people were not prepared.I think you have much more experience with extreme weather down there......good luck.

Hi there all!!!

Well, my wife and I ran up to her brothers house about 150 miles north of us. He and his lady live in Lake Placid Florida. Hurricane Frances decided not to hit Ft. Lauderdale but shot up about 25 miles north of Lake Placid!!!!! All is well, just lost some shingles and lots of branches hitting the house. The house up there would stand a better chance than our condo would.

We got back Monday night at about 10:30pm. Everything was ok here at home. :)

In the end I had to leave all my gear and instruments, had no room in the car after taking clothing, food, water, laptops, Dog, my wife and me. We had the Senta packed to the 9s!!

Now of course we have hurricane Ivan coming to Florida!!!!

I have reserved a climate controlled public storage unit to put all my gear and instuments and other computers and valuables. I am trying to get plastic crates to build an elevated floor in the storage unit just in case of flooding. I had the option of a top floor or a ground floor. I was worried that part of the roof might get taken off the storage unit and expose my stuff to the elements. On the ground floor I can raise the stuff off the ground with the crates. Hope I picked correctly!

My wife want to go back to Lake Placid if the hurricane is coming this way. We have some friends locally who want us to go stay with them. I am not sure where we will end up but....such is life...at least we are blessed with options :)

I will follow up when I know what we will be doing.

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. :)

Yep, good news, glad to hear all is well. Been watching with interest to see what happens over there.

BTW - we went on a cruise from Fort Lauderdale in 2002 and we had a days layover there before we flew home. We went to eat at Charlie Crabs & it was lush! would recommend it if you haven't been (and assuming you like fish, but hey, your a Floridian right?) - Oh & assuming it didn't just blow away!
