Hey,

I originally posted this thread back a few weeks ago and got some great suggestions, thanks to all.:D

I have another question that i hope someone in the LA area can help me out on and that is how long and how convenient would it take/be to travel from LAX to Universal Studios and then back again to LAX via cab, any idea on the cost, is it convenient, are we prone to crazy traffic jams etc...we have to go back to LAX to take the Disneyland shuttle.

I ask because of a stuff up with our theme park tickets...namely the Southern California Citypass tickets requiring validation at Universal Studios first were Disneyland tickets will then be issued (tickets are non refundable). This is around the wrong way for me as we are going to Disneyland first then back to LA. Hence my original question about backtracking.

There are no two ways about it, i stuffed up big time!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

You came to the right place: Ernie Ball Travel Agency

My suggestions is that, to save time and money, forgo the Disney, Universal stuff, and just hit the dozen or so Guitar Centers in the LA area!!

Pick up a few MM guitars as souvenirs, and go home and tell everyone what a great time you had!!!:)

You'd need to hop on the infamous 405 freeway, which is always a total pain in the ass. Google Maps says "Driving directions to Universal Studios Hollywood 23.9 mi – about 28 mins (up to 1 hour 30 mins in traffic)" and I've done it before so expect at least 1 hour. By cab it's going to be expensive... it's not close by. There may be a shuttle or something, you should research that.

Having been to all those locations you mention, I would say you are better off hiring a car - it will give you much more flexability and car hire is pretty cheap in the USA.

All,

Many thanks for your suggestions. My faith in human nature has been restored overnight. Universal studios have agreed to refund the tickets so there is no need to do what i was dreading!

TNT, i totally agree with your suggestion, now i have a little more time to drag the wife and kids around guitar shops, boy how happy they'll be to spend such quality bonding time with me!

Or rent a car.

I had to rent one a couple weeks ago when my toyota dealer screwed up a belt install and the thing went flying off. Used ENTERPRISE rent a car. Picked it up at orange county airport on a sunday it was less than $15 bucks a day. A real bargain if you ask me even though toyota paid for the rental. It was a mazda 3. Fun car.
