SG.... I have small sized hands too. I own and play an axis sport (which I play very comfortably.... errr ok it feels like it was almost made just for my hands alright....lol) Anyway.... I have also played a few silhouettes and I was very comfortable with them as well. MM1 v. MM4 huh? I have played the MM4 which we just got for my son. It was comfortable to play for me (granted....not nearly as nice as my MM Axis neck, but I enjoyed playing it...well least till my son took it back :) I don't imagine that an MM1 is that much different (in terms of fitting a smaller hand). Best thing for you to do if yu can...is to find a local OLP dealer and just go try out both models and see if that helps you decide. Buying a guitar is a very personal choice and you have certainly been very thoughful about your decision. Good luck... and let me know what you get!

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I would be shocked if there were any difference in the neck carves between any OLP guitars... They're a very generic shallow C with a flat radius, and so if you played one and liked it, any model should do...

Well poker man and jimi, you have been a tremendous help and for that I think you. To answer your question poker man, I have decided on a MM4 in Blue Sparkle. I think it will look great.

Thanx Again!!!:D:cool: :)

Instead of making a new thread, i thought i would bring this one back since it applies to my question. I love the axis neck, but i find them to be out of my price range, and abit less versitile than I would like(although that could be remedied with a coil tap i believe). The silo is more in my price range. How much wider is the neck? I have wrist tendinitis problems and the width of the neck on the axis is much more playable than any other neck ive played. The silo neck, according to the site, has the same nut width, but is slightly more wide at the last fret. How much of a difference does this really make? Does it still feel less wide than other necks (like fender and gibson)? Also, does the 24 frets make it a longer reach to the first fret, or is the neck deep enough in the body that it feels similar?

The Silhouette's neck doesn't feel substantially wider than the Axis to me - it does feel a little shallower, like it's a thinner "C" shape than the asymetrical "V" I love on the Axis. They're both a 25½" scale, and I've never felt like I had to "reach" with the Silhouette - in fact, because of the horn (which the Axis lacks) you may find the first fret is a little closer to you when the guitar's on a strap. Anyway, Silhouettes are wonderful guitars, and though I personally prefer the Tele-on-steroids vibe I get from my Axes, the Silhouette is they're equal - it's just a preference thaing! :D
