So, I stopped by Guitar Center today on 14th street and I have good news about the EB guitars. First off, there were alot all things considering. There were two BFR JP's, a red AL, a LUKE, '07 limited JP, a Super Sport, a 20th Silo, a morse, and a white Silo Special. That is quite a selection. Pretty much the whole line. I finally got to sit down and play some of the guitars I've only seen pictures of on here. I played the AL, 20th, silo special, and Axis. Long story short, the Axis still has the tone of all tones. I was very impressed though with the 20th pickups. That thing sounded great. The AL and Silo special didn't work for me as much, but they felt great. I could live with the Silo Special if it had an EVH in the bridge.

The next good news is that all the guitars were moved to a much better location. Whereas before you had to hunt to even find them, now you can't miss them! When you walk in, they are staring right at you when you enter the guitar section. What an improvement.

I envy you Radrock bro! I wish our GC has Music Man, well I saw Luke and SUB years ago, but now they're gone. See I live in Oklahoma and it's very rare to find music man around here.. sad but true. :(

Ponch, I feel for you. I was in the GC OKC two weeks ago and they didn't even have one. Oh well.

sixtyfour, THe Silo Special is a killer guitar, it just doesn't have the punch, IMHO, that the axis does. The Axis bridge was so much tighter sounding and pulled more out of the strings. The easiest way to say it is that to me, it's just more rockin'. I'm with you that I miss the neck single coil sound. What I've done to help alleviate that is put a Humbucker From Hell in the neck position of my axis guitars. I made some sound files awhile back if you want to listen to the HFH in the neck. The HFH is an interesting pickup and would better be suited for a 3-way selector, not a five. I might swap that out too.

I did like the single coils in the Silo Special alot. I have an extra bridge EVH so that if I ever buy a Silo Special, I'll pop it in and have the perfect guitar.

I hear you. I'd be interested to hear a Silo Special through my stuff. It might prove differently. Naturally, I'll help split gas, etc.
