I recently purchased an EH Bassballs and EH Metal Muff. I really like both pedals. I would also like a good chorus pedal, phase pedal and wah pedal.

I tried the EH Nano Clone and didn't like it. The Clone had a tremendous amount of noise. It also cut the signal a lot. I tried an EH Nano Small Stone phase pedal and found it to cut the sound too much. It too was returned.

What are good chorus and phase pedals to use with a Sterling that cost in the sub $100 range?

Also, has anyone used any of the tube stompboxes by EH with a bass?

Finally, what wha pedal works best with bass? I've heard that the Dunlop guitar wah works better than their bass wah.

Thanks,

Ken

Though pricey, Give EBS BassIQ Triple Envelope Filter a try. It's one of the pedals I use now, and it really sounds great when used right.

I have to say, all of my pedals seem to sound better whn using my Stingray5. With my other 2 basses which are non (EBMM) the effects are not as dramatic and rich sounding. Effects like Phase, Bassballs, Q tron and overdrive just sound better with the Ray.

I'm not saying this just because this is an EBMM forum but I am certain that the pickup placement and mid centered growl of the SR5 are what makes the difference. I am a bot of a pedal nut and this is just one more reason why I think of my SR5 as my "holy Grail" bass.

Now I just need an SR4 H lefty fretless to make my new EHX Clone Theory Chorus Pedal worth having!!

I'm right there with you....

My rig never sounded so good until I plugged in my SR5. I couldn't believe it.

I have the Boss PH-3 Phaser. It is OK. But not great. It cuts out a lot of bottom end. Dialing up the bass on my SR4 compensates, but there you go. Also, it doesn't go up/down in a normal fashion. More like upppppp/down. Lopping along like. If that makes any sense. Perhaps one day I will replace it with a different phaser. It does have several phaser models in it, so there is some versatility.

I also have the Boss CB-3(?). Again, a decent Chorus pedal. Designed for Bass. Can sound a little metallic/synthetic though. Used sparingly, it is OK.

I also have a Humphrey modified Digitech Bad Monkey for bass. Probably more distortion than I could want, but keeping things turned down low results in some nice grit, if that is what I want.

Finally, my Tech 21 Bass Driver Direct In is a classic. No regrets here.

I really like my BDDI (Sansamp BassDriver). My Dunlop wah is fun too. I wouldn't mind a EHX Small Stone or Small Clone, EBS OctaBass or BassIQ either.

+1 on the BDDI.

Generally speaking, when I off a piece of equipment I don't look back. One of the few things I regret having sold was my original BDDI.

So I bought a new one.

It's not part of my regular rig (I'm a Line6 BassPODxt user, and it does pretty much everything I ever need), but it's darned useful on occasion.

currently on the flight deck sits a bass chorus, flanger, auto wah, tuner, distortion (the yellow one) and a crappy compression pedal - all boss. All used sparingly and never had any problem with them.
A few niggles mind you - the voice thing on the wah is pants, and the compression pedal is heading to the bin as its pants too...
But the rest , esp the distortion pedal are great...
