Talk about the right place & time. A buddy who builds lap steels and I were talking the other day about the hassles & pitfalls of e-bay. He asked me if I ever checked craigs list. I told him no and he recommended that I take a peek.

Well, I got on the local craig`s list and did my first search: "Ernie Ball". Up popped a used Axis Super Sport. While not real close to me, I decided that the drive might be worth it. So, after 4 hours of round trip driving, I arrived home late, but with a new ASS in what I guess is a transparent amber or butterscotch on ash body (one solid piece) with Humbucker and 2 Single coils, rosewood fret board, and trem with case. Vrey clean and unplayed!
Can`t post a pic now, but I will when I get home from work.

I had told myself the next Ball I got would be a Silo, but just couldn`t pass this one up. Now I just have to figure out how to cope with the extra weight and mass of MY THIRD BALL! Ciao!

I remember that one from the Craiglist sticky thread ... had given thought to buying that one myself.

Nice score!

Yeah, the former owner said he had heard from a Canuk who was interested. wound up getting it for 100 less than posted which makes it a SCREAMING DEAL!:)

Good one - a mere 4 hour round trip! ;)

When I got my EVH a couple of weeks ago I drove for 16 hours - what ya gotta do for a third ball though eh?

Looking forward to some "full frontals" of that beauty tonight.

I was not the Canuck in question ... but I really gave it serious consideration.

That's a steal man, a steal!

OK so....several hours and days later here is the pic. I couldn`t help but match it with my macho congas of the same color......pretty butch, huh? View attachment 4910
It is very clean....a coupla dings in hard to see, far away places(like the Navy recruiters always promised).
I got my first chance to plug it into a REAL AMP today (Mesa Blue Angel) and it IS sweet sounding. I might opt to wire the rear bucker in series as it is ia little overpowering compared to the singles, but overall a real sweet deal . :cool:Ciao!
