I don't mind. Man...I tell you, those balls of mine are the bomb. I love my Wolfgangs, but the necks are whats got me hooked with the Musicmans. Awesome.

I use Elixir Polyweb .009 gauge. I've used others for years, but I gave these a shot one time and fell in love with them.

The difference between the two are very subtle...but noticable. The necks are the main things for me. Those Wolfgangs have a wider neck, but thinner. Meaning...the fretboard across is wider...and the thickness of the neck is thinner. I assume because of the 10" radius vs. 15" radius. Other than that, you got your arch top vs. flat top. The pickups in the Musicman are little hotter sounding to me, but it could be because I raised them ever so slightly by cutting of some pickup springs and putting them between the pickups and the screws. I really like both versions of the EVH stuff...and those that try a Wolfgang Standard are getting the real representation of a Wolfgang. I have owned many of all incarnations, Wolf Special, Axis, EVH Musicman, and Wolfgang Standard and they way to go is the EVH/Axis Musicman or a Wolfgang Standard. I will eventually get a hardtail...but I am getting to really like those balls of mine! :D

I put the D Tuna on the EVH Musicman. I just noticed coincidently that EVH sometime switched his front pickup around on his amber quilt sometime during the Balance tour. So I'll most likely switch mine around as well. Here's photo of it:

I didn't notice until someone mentioned..but those wolfgang necks are alot wider than the axis necks! probably more similar to my ESP or a JPMM

cool deal =) I raised the pups on my axis as well..I found that they just sat WAY too far from the strings..especially since the bridge lays on the body

Weird about the switching the pup around. Is there a difference in the coils of the humbucker? Or is that just a looks thing? Perhaps he was trying out Wolfgang pup's then and had them installed on the main guitar, which was still an EBMM then.

Gotcha... I'd still be interested to know if there is any difference in the coils of the pup's that come on the Axis, both bridge and neck.
