So my first EBMM guitar arrived. It is a JP6 in pearl read burst. I had never played one before I had only played a silo before. Here is my initial impressions.

First off the quality is spectacular. The finish, the frets, intonation, everything is perfect. This is the precision instrument I had hoped it would be. The fret work blows my American Standard strat out of the water. I knew when i ordered it that it had a thinner neck then the silo but my strat has a more modern neck the the silo so I thought it would be similar, still i was surprised just how thin the neck is but it plays great and I was used to it very quickly. I really like the wider neck. This is one of the reasons i went with the JP6 it gives you lots of room for fingering and I have fairly large hands so I love this. The setup is great, the action is a little higher then i would have thought for this type of guitar but I like my action a little higher to give room for bends. I love this bridge. I don't use the trem much at all so I really like this over a floyd. It is way more comfortable for PM then a strat bridge or even a tune-o-matic in my opinion.

I think the pickups match the guitar perfectly they are very articulate even with high gain. The bridge is not super hot in my opinion and I think that is good. I think the hot rails I have my start is a hotter pickup but these are never muddy and it fits this guitars sound perfectly. The center split posistion gives a great clean tone and the neck pickup sounds very warm and full on with on clean.

My only complaint with this guitar is the pickup toggle. I was worried about that placement but I assume that JP knew what he was doing. I must say I dont like it. It gets in my way. I have hit it several times already and flipped the switch. I am sure I can get used to it but if I could change this on this guitar I would. I would rather have it out of the way then be able to switch it super quick by placing it there.

Anyway overall I am very happy. I doubt you can buy a nicer guitar for the money. I have played a few custom shop strats in the stores and this is at least as good quality if not better.

Congrats! That's one of my favorite finishes for this guitar. As far as the toggle placement goes, I love it. I guess I'm not a big strummer.

the switch placement definately promotes playing from the wrist and not the elbow.

sweet guitar though (it's on my list), congrats and welcome!

Thanks, I love the pearl red too. It it better in person I love how it looks black from some angles and red from others. As far as the toggle switch it is a minor complaint overall but it was about the only thing I don't like about the guitar so far. I also don't like the volume knob placement on strats. This is the one thing I like about my old Epi LP all those are out of the way. I played that for so many years I got used to it.

One other thing I like a lot is the tone control is actually useful. It just slightly rolls off the highs. It is the first guitar I have owned where I really like the sound with it turned down some with high gain.
