hey guys,
as I live in Ireland it would have cost a lot of money to send my Luke back to EBMM to have it refretted so I decided to have a local guy do it... I had seen his work before and was very impressed with his attention to detail, anyway I had him refret my guitar with a taller fretwire and I just got it back today... and I'm very very happy with the guitar now, it feels wonderful again, and with the slightly higher wire a bit more comfortable for me, what I didn't ask for was stainless steel wire... but he put it on there... and I'm very surprised... it feels fantastic and sounds no different... 10's feel like 9's now and it's just great... I'll post some pics later...:)

he put Dunlop 6150 stainless on there... it's a really nice wire.. I have another guitar which I won't mention here;) and its got the same wire but not stainless and I really like that size.. I like to be able to get a good grip on the string and with a slightly taller wire I can do this, it's made an already great guitar even better IMO..:D

Its pretty interesting that the stainless wire didnt make a difference at all in the tone of the guitar.
I guess many people dont want to put it on cause it wears down their tools.

the stainless steel wire has made no difference to the tone from what I can hear... it feels a lot easier to play... I do know that... I have a few gigs this week.. I'll report back on this as I feel that on a gig you will find out more about a guitars performance that anywhere else.... :)

I'd be interested to know if it develops an appetite for strings as I hear stainless frets will do.

yes I have heard this as well... I change my strings about once a week... I know some people who have strings on for a lot longer and whinge when they need to change them... :( I don't think it's gonna be a problem..

The low frets are what's kept my earnest interest from the Luke. I really love the higher but narrow Silo Sp frets.

that was an issue for me... I'll admit... but as a signature guitar it was made for what Luke wanted... but my guitars are used to make me money.. they are my tools... I loved the tone I got from the Luke... and I perservered... but I just needed taller frets... I respect that Luke likes lower frets.. but I don't.. with this little mod the guitar is near perfect... I need a very quiet guitar for some situations and with the EMG's.. I have it... :)
