I walked in the door late from work tonight and found a box with an EB/MM sticker and knew she'd finally come home. I opened the box and pulled out my guitar before I even kissed my kids.

As most of you know by now, I sent my Pearl Redburst Petrucci back to Jon to have him seal the neck and level the frets.

I remember the first time I ever played a Petrucci and felt the tung-oiled neck. I thought, "I can never go back to playing laquered or urethaned necks again". Well the feel of the sealed neck is even smoother. It doesn't appear to alter the appearance of the maple at all and feels just great. I strongly urge any of you who live in the north-eastern part of the country to have it done. I don't know if it will actually combat moisture but it's an upgrade in feel that's worth the effort.

My Petrucci came from the factory as all the others do: 1/16" at the twelfth fret. My high E was a little higher (5/64") at the twelfth. Jon did a magnificent job leveling my frets and setting the action. I haven't measured it, so I don't know if it's actually 1/32" but I do know it plays significantly better than it did from the factory. The action is much lower and the tension is so playable. It feels like the first Petrucci I ever played. The one that made me say: "I have to have one of these guitars, and soon".

Jon, thank you so much for your workmanship and service. I hope your boss(es) read this forum and know what an asset you are to Ernie Ball/Music Man.

Thank you.

Dave Frattaroli

PS

My 5 year old son loved the EB stickers!

Jeeze OC...This was a tearful moment, and you had to @#*% it up...Seriously, Dave..I am so glad you like your guitar. It means so much more to hear from the "regular guys" than any feedback I could get from a rock star. You guys are why we make guitars, and I am stoked to hear from y'all!

P.S. Glad your kid liked the stickers!

Not trying to steal the thunder, I mean iit's an awesome feel. I've played my DG so much that I think I may be wearing it thing in spots hehehe. Seriously tho', I'd send back my other ones in a heartbeat to have 'em tweaked since I know not one LI tech who can do a fret level like that.

Just spent about 30-40 minutes trying a new diminshed arp excercise and there were moments when I'd get to the high E string in the run and it felt a little wierd to experience so little travel of the string to the fretboard! I had to actually look at my fingers fretting that string to see if I wasn't doing something wrong. I don't know if I'm explaining myself well at all but the thing plays so well. Ah, I usually hate guys who gush over their gear so I'm going to stop.

Hey Jon, next time I order an EB/MM, I'll give you a buzz and have you set it up before it even ships.

Peace.

You can give EB a call or try wrestling some away from my son. I'd call EB.

I thought ALL bass players were jerks.....:p .......

(before anyone gets too bent outta shape, first electrified instrument I ever wanted to play was a bass, but I wound up getting a guitar instead....so unlike most bassists, who are sometimes regarded as frustrated guitarists, I guess I'd be considered a frustrated bassist? ;))

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the fret crowning? My frets on my Axis are starting to look a bit worn and I'm thinking about after Xmas, it will be time to have them dressed.
