Okay, I'll try to keep this as short as possible.
After a grueling extended waiting period, I finally purchased a new bass to replace my cheap fretted one that was keeping the seat warm until I decided what I wanted.
My problem was that I did not want to settle on something until I could hear all of my options. As we all know, it is next to impossible to find a store with a Sterling H, HH, HS and a StingRay in all 3 combos all in one place at one time.
So my step-son said, 'Well, since I work for Jet Blue, you can fly free anywhere with my tickets. Seek and you shall find!'
In doing the aforementioned seeking, I had a few conversations with Brandt at The Perfect Bass.
Then, after doing the appropriate groveling with my beautiful wife, we were off to Baton Rouge!
There's no better way to spend a few hours than trying Ball after Ball, looking for the one that sings out to you.
Folks, I can't say enough nice things about Brandt and TPB. He was very patient with me as I asked to see bass after bass. (Not to mention giving Mapquest directions to the mall to my wife so she could shop as I was looking. Hey, was that just to get her out of the store?)
He offered me lunch and we talked about everything Musicman. It was a great experience and I would recommend him and TPB to anyone. Thanks, Brandt!
So, drumroll please, I purchased a Sterling 4 HS!! (Thanks, again, for the great deal and all of your help, Brandt.)
I still feel a little more comfortable with the Stingray neck (I have a fretless Ray that I use 70-80% of the time) but I have to say that I just love the Sterling sound. (And I always thought I'd buy another Ray!)
Well, I have lots more to say about the trip, the bass, Brandt and TPB, but this thread is already too long.
Oh, and no pics because the bass if off to be painted! I warned you guys that when I get my new bass it was going to be painted a certain (and, to many, hideous color) So, pics in about 2-3 weeks!
.......and........as Brandt was giving me a tour of the place, I had the pleasure of seeing a certain Olive Gold fretless Bongo.......oh, Eggy, one sweet sweet bass is coming your way! Sorry to tease you about seeing it before you but I can be evil! But the bass is incredible!!
