Hey everyone, I'm not trying to sell on this site but I do need to sell my bass so I would love a little input. I posted recently about not knowing what bass I have and received a lot of help, basically I have a Pre-EB Music Man Sabre 80-83. I will have the neck pulled to find out exactly what year soon. It's an amazing bass sounds and plays great also weighs a ton! My question is- do I leave it showing it's age or should I have it refinished before I try to sell it? Most of it is just normal wear, but one area has me worried. The previous owner was in a country band and therefore wore the massive belt buckle which did some damage to the back of the bass. (One more reason not to like country music!!) Anyway just wondering what you thought on that subject and what you thought I could ask for my bass, here are a few pics so you can see for yourself. Thanks

Sell it as is my friend, a decent refinish will cost you a fair amount, better to just list it a honestly as possible and let it go, good luck.

Yeah what ever you do don't refinish it ! refinishing it will just devalue it, it looks great as it is.

Refinishing it won't result in a proportionate increase in resale (if at all) so you're investing for nothing really.

Most folks will take a worn out but original finish over a refin no matter who did it.

Yeah, leave the finish alone. That's how collectors will want it left. 98% of the time a refinish doesn't make an instrument sell for more, and you will actually loose out because you'll never regain the 300-500 you put into it.

And don't be so hard on country players...punk players wear the same big belt buckles too!
