Hi
Anyone knows which graphtech bridge model fits Axis SS (non tremolo), dimensions, part number ?
Is that a Ss Saddle Strat Import (6 Pcs) PS-8000-00 - E to E 2 1/16 ?

Does anyone have expirience with their bridges on an MM guitars ?
I have a fairly heavy hand and often brake strings at the saddles, (any string and saddles are in perfect condition) and have heard from other people that they had great results with graphtech bridges (but none of them play MM ).

Thanks a lot !

I did a search through threads and found that people say that graphtech changes the sound noticeably. If they, by removing the percentage of high end as someone mentioned, dull the sound maybe i should reconsider.
Any alternatives ?
Doesn't that SRV trick work only if you brake strings at the holes in the body not on the saddle itself ?
And to get things straight I think that the guitar works perfectly, nothing wrong there, it's just my heavy handed style  .
I am experimenting with different strings too, right now I use EB Stainless Steel, they seem a bit stronger (harder to bend) so we'll see. If I gather some strenght I might try switching to 11's.
Thanks
Dean

graphtech will affect your tone a little. alot of peoplel like it though........ it depends on the guitar..& your taste. they are definitely worth a try if you are really heavy handed

on the original saddles.......
if u buff the saddles & use nut sauce ......it will help ALOT !!!!!!!

I use graphtech saddles on 2 of my 3 electrics and find them to be fantastic. If anything the tone has IMPROVED on my Axis since switching! But then again tone is always subjective. I also have found that those damn annoying saddle burrs are a thing of the past which can only be a good thing.

I say give them a try, you may like them. :D

On the sizes- not sure what size you'd want to go with. Take a saddle out and measure it with a micrometer if you have one. Lea at Graph Tech is a great guy and seems familiar with EBMM, so you can always give him a call directly and ask which saddle to buy.

I just replaced my Morse tuneomatic bridge with a Graph Tech piezo bridge. Sounds phenomenal. Acoustically (e.g. not plugged in), it doesn't seem quite as bright, but the sustain seems a tad better. (And the piezo sounds killer.)

A few guys on the board have changed the Axis and Luke saddles- I recall some of them liking it more and some liking it less (the Graph Tech ones apparently aren't as bright). They'd probably be more noticable on the Luke, though, as it's so bright. I'm guessing the tonal difference would be less noticable on the Axis.

Probably well worth it if you break strings all the time. I think I'd probably try Tommy's approach first though- buff and lube the saddles. (It's free and would keep the guitar stock.)

I have the Graphtech saddles on my hard tail Van Halen. The model you quote is the one that will fit, though they are slightly narrower than the standard EBMM saddles, Doesnt make a huge difference, but they dont quite fit as snug. I have found that they take away some of the high top end, which is what I was trying to achieve by fitting them. I also find that I rarely break strings on this guitar thanks to these saddles. I have been thinking of fitting them to a couple more guitars in my EBMM fleet purely for reliability whilst gigging.

Any more questions, dont hesitate to ask!
