I was at the Guitar Center in Redondo Beach, CA this evening, and they had a GREAT price for a new Bongo bass. If you happen to be in the market for one and live in the Los Angeles area, you may want to check it out. Just thought I would pass on the info.

I was wondering about that......

I got my SR5 new from GC last month and it didn't come with a case. They said they don't order cases. That seemed odd to me since every other high-end bass I've ever bought came with a case. Thankfully, my SR5 fit in my old cirrus case. Is that normal for GC? Does EBMM ship without cases?

I guess I dismissed it because I had purchased a strat from GC years ago....I thought I wanted to be a guitar player...sad story. Anyway, that guitar didn't come with a case either.

Nope BP, that may be how it is supposed to be, but not how it is actually working at my local GC's.

The last three EBMMs I bought at GC (including my 30th SR4) did not reflect a case in the price shown on the tag, and it was a separate bargaining point. They did it with the 52 Telecaster RI I bought too, which is supposed to have a tweed case in the price. And this is from two different Guitar Centers.

I certainly do not want to start another bitchfest about Guitar Center, because they do sell alot of stuff, and they are certainly better than they used to be. But that is how it works at the Cerritos and Lawndale stores.

FYI...My 30th from GC in Winter Park FL came with the case. The only thing the bass needed was some counseling for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (...and the trussrod adjusted...) after being played by everyone who could not afford it but thought it was a cool bass to beat up on for awhile! I lovingly assured my new family member that those days were over with and greener pastures lay ahead!

My 30th was so high up on the wall that nobody had touched it. My hands got dusty when I touched it for the first time.

My very slightly used SR5 was purchased at GC here in PA. The salesdude made it a point o go into the backroom to dig out the right case- heeven said something to the effect that all EBMM basses come with a case included in the price...

I guess it varies from GC to GC

Music Man Cases

the case should be included

Poppa Never a New Case on any Music Man basses from any Guitar Center's, I buy many and they always hit me for an extra $100 for the case, even when I buy 3 or 4 at a time. Their line is, Music Man charges us so we have to Pass it along.

Does a Sterling have a different case than an SR5? The GC I got mine from said they didn't even have a case for my SR5. The salesman said all they had was a Sterling case.

Now I'm carrying my SR5 around in a case that says P%@^%y on the side....not too cool IMHO but who knows it might work like having an ADT sticker on your house.

Hmm, maybe someone from EBMM could get with someone from GC and find out whats going on.

If BP says all EBMM basses should come with a case, and some are not coming with a case, theres a problem.

All basses at my local GC are divorced from their cases and case candy upon arrival at the store. Like others have said, the case costs extra when you buy from my local GC. Probably this allows them to make their EBMM product prices look like a steal compared to other shops.

I bought a very gently used Bongo 5 from a Toronto area retailer and it was sans case. I was told a new MM case was about $200CAD so I bought a crappy $60 Ritter case.

Back in "99 i bought my SR5 from what was then Veneman in Maryland. Case was not included in the price. I was told the MM case was $179. So I got an SKB case fo $99 instead.

No case with my Bongo either, purchased at GC Cerritos.

Great price due to Green Tag sale, and they had a Bongo HH 4 at a similarly good price. No cases, no case candy, just the instrument.

I've ordered a OHSC case at a discount, but it certainly wasn't included.

Hmmm. That is all I'm going to say. Hmmm.

I'm not a dealer, although I did play one on TV, and all I can say is that all my dealer price lists INCLUDED cases.

(SUBS excepted.)

The guys I was working with, one of whom was the assistant manager and in charge of the store at the time, looked in the back room and were unable to find a case for my bass or the Bongo 4 they had. Even the GC hang tag indicated that it didn't have a case. In light of the fact that I: (1) Was stoopud about that issue, and (2) Ordered one anyway; you'd think that if they had one they could have offered it to me in some way if such a critter existed.

Now I are confused. But then you knew that.

Man, all these stories... the fact that mine was included is clearly the exception to the rule. Lucky me!! They probably fired the salesman.
