Here's the link if you wanna see the whole thread. New Musicman Bongo - TalkBass Forums

But here is the copy and paste I did of the guy who just bought a Bongo from Guitar Center.

'' I just picked up a Musicman Bongo from GC.I didnt really plan on buying anything but after I picked it up I got that stupid grin and couldnt put it down,so naturally I tried most of the basses that they had in inventory and out of the Warwick and Fender Basses I stil went back to the Bongo and got that stupid grin.
I actually walked out and went home but then I went online and saw that the price I could get it for new is what the used ones were going for then I went and read some reviews on it and from there GAS took over and I went down the next day and picked it up.
I really like the sound so far but I think that the strings are a little dead, any suggestions for a good pop and slap string??
Steve ''

Its funny to me because I know EXACTLY what that '' stupid grin '' is :D

Except mine is with my SR5, and not a Bongo.... because I do not have a Bongo

Smart man, BP. I am truly amazed at how much activity there is over there, and how I am interested in almost none of it.

Interesting observation - that's been my experience too.

I hung around on Harmony Central Bass Forum for quite some time and really enjoyed the humour and camaraderie on there, but it just got too big, too many posts, couldn't keep track of it anymore. I'm still in touch with some of the guys from there though.

I am proud of not being registered to any other music forum except EBMM and Digidesign Protools conference where I only posted once or twice.

sorry, didn't mean to open a can of worms.

just thought it was cool he played all those other basses and the Bongo was the one that made him grin, cause I know that exact feeling.

no harm meant

It's like watching ants around an ant nest - lots of activity for sure, but you could watch it all day and still not understand what the ants are doing.

When I saw the title of this thread I checked my calendar to see if it was 1 April !!

As a member of both boards, I must admit that (among the more informative discussions) I have seen some OP's on TalkBass that take some rather bold liberties with the concept of "There are no stupid questions'...Having been rendered speechless by such content, I have no choice but not to reply - thus saving myself for brighter days and better ways.

I was amazed at the amount of activity on TB as well. I had actually damn-near forgotten about TB until a friend said I should look at a review on a particular bass cabinet - then from that research, I found out about a couple of issues on bass amps (one of which I owned that is now in the shop), so there is some useful info on there, but it takes a while to sift through it all.
