Hello russinator it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?

Well then, I guess this should take care of that!

Just a wild guess - 2005 Bongo 4 Hp Carbon Pearl / Black Ice?

Thanks and it might be correct...however, when I got home from the Desert Bash, I was supposed to go "somewhere" and failed my physical cause of my vision...docs found (I had this for a while but never went) that I have a detached retina and it makes it hard for me to see like I need to...I got this spot in my field of vision that makes it hard to see.......anyway...back on subject...give me a bigger pic! LOL

Well, yes, of course it is!

Carbon, Graphite, whatever!!! :D

When I worked for the National Carbon Research Labs back in the last century, I worked with a substance that had similar properties to graphite only it was white. Boron something or other.

Well basically the 4Hp is my P-bass replacement and the 5HH is my J-bass replacement. (I did have a J-5).

The 4Hp is my go to bass unless I want to get fancy and play in keys above the 5th fret.

I can get similar tones from both but that "p" adds some real punch. I mentioned somewhere if I had a 5Hp I wouldn't need any other bass! :D

BTW the 5HH is now known as my "Not Orange" bass. My son's girlfriend who is an aspiring bass player said " I want to try that orange bass!". I said "it's not Orange, it's Desert Gold. Hence the new moniker... :p

So let's talk about the 'p' in your 4Hp... how and when do you use it, and what are your thoughts on it? Are you glad you have it?

Well I pretty much operate with it rotated 20 - 30 degrees counterclockwise from the detent and work from there. Depends. I set the amp flat, and the preamp bass and treble flat, turning out the hi-mids and maybe flat or a little boost on the lo-mids.

I feel I get both thump and growl. Sounds good to me, and have had many comments on the sound and offers to play the darn thing (and offers to buy it also!):D
