Greeting one and all!

I am in the midst of purchasing my first EBMM guitar and I have chosen the 25th anniversary model as the one to get. Unfortunately I am not in the US and these guitars don't come by easily where I am at. So I would be purchasing this guitar sight unseen via a friend in the states. Now I don't normally purchase a guitar without playing it first but this guitar has induced serious GAS in me! To the point where I spend all my free time reading up on this guitar and watching the clips of it in youtube on repeat!

Now, I have a couple of questions about this guitar which I hope can be answered:

1) Is the 25th very consistent in tone, playability and weight across the board? Asking this because I am buying the guitar sight unseen
2) I noticed in all the shops selling this guitar, that there is no option for quilt top with hard tail and rosewood fretboard (talking about the regular 25th here not the rosewood neck BFR limited run)

One thing I have noticed about this great forum is how friendly and warm the posters are, that there is hardly any slagging and the level of respect shown towards each other is so great. Oh and more amazing still is the fact that STERLING BIG POPPA BALL is a regular poster. Tells me a lot about EBMM as a company that the CEO of a great big company like EBMM is so in touch with his customers. Much respect to that!

Sorry, going to rephrase my 2nd question:

Is there an option for a quilt top with rosewood fretboard and hardtail option for this guitar? I have not seen any, does that mean that a 25th with the above options is suspicious?

Cheers

Greetings and welcome!

There may still be a few 25th out there and I bet some of the regulars here and possibly the good people at EB themselves can help you find exactly what you are looking for.

Consistently fantastic guitars is what EB is all about. After the 100 or so I have played, were all good.

I have 15 or so EBMM guitars. I can only think of 3 of them that I played before I purchased.

BP can be a salesman. He is one cool dude that's for sure.

Quilt Rosewood hardtail

We'll see what we can do.

Welcome aboard!

Great choice on your 1st EBMM, the 25th is nothing short of breathtaking...!

To answer your questions

1.) The 25th is -as every MusicMan I ever came across- perfectly balanced and the playability is of course excellent! Tonewise you get a heap of options snd different sounds...it really is an outstanding instrument and I would have no worries whatsoever buying one sight unseen...it's not very likely that you won't fall in love with it!

2.) The 25ths came with exactly the options you mentioned and you could order every combination...so a hardtail, quilt top rosewood boarded 25th is perfectly legit!

If you manage to find one, go for it! These 25ths are getting rare...!

Thanks for the info Coffeemug & norm and for welcoming to this forum

Looking forward to becoming a part of the EBMM family!

I shall not hesitate then, going to give the go ahead to get the 25th! Reason I asked is because the one I would be getting has exactly those specs: quilt top, hardtail and rosewood fretboard and of course, finished in the amazing venetian red!

The 25th is really a magnificent looking beast and even though all I have to base my opinions on are youtube videos and reviews, I can already imagine the playability and TONES dripping from this instrument

I played a 25th at last year's NAMM convention, it's an outstanding guitar. I guarantee that you will be really happy with it.

All three of my favorite MM Guitars were bought sight unseen. In fact, my first, the Silhouette Special, was purchased without ever seeing one in 'real life' before. It was actually better than I thought it would be and prompted me to sell all my other guitar brands and buy a few more EBMMs.

Lastly, yes this is an awesome forum. Welcome.

thanks again for the wonderful welcome coffeemug, aj, norm and paranoid70

I have never gotten such amazing vibe from any forum anywhere!

Good news is that the deal for the 25th is more or less done, just waiting for the confirmation to make payment... and it's exactly what I wanted: quilt top/rw/hardtail! anxious to get the "good to go" signal

This guitar has evoked feelings of GAS I have not felt for a long long time.. kinda reminded me of when i was a kid in the early 90s, staring at the EBMM EVH in the music store display and just LUSTING for it (I was really really into van halen then)... come to think of it, that was the first guitar I ever lusted for, an EBMM EVH way back! Never got it though, moved on to different guitars and different things

Now, I am back full circle and lusting for an EBMM 25th!

blackreble - welcome! Looks like EBMM has helped you find one in the specs you want - since these were only available for order last year it now becomes a hunt to find one with the right options.

And make sure you post pictures once you get the 25th.

Welcome to the forum, blackrebel. You chose an AWESOME guitar for your first.

I absolutely love my 25th and I bet you'll love yours, too. There's something very special about that guitar. The other guys have already answered your questions and you've got a new 25th on the way, so Congrats!

I'm anxious to hear what you think of it when it arrives (and see pictures of course ;))

Yep! That would be the "Reflex" and it's just as awesomely cool as the 25th. There have been some floating around Guitar Center here in the US as well as some really nice pieces at the Dallas guitar show.

A forum member, fingbeagles, has an Amethyst reflex he picked up in Dallas.
