There is a story. I was packing to go out of town for the weekend. While doing so I was talking to my mom (who has NEVER shelled out even a penny for my musical gear) and I told her I wanted a single humbucker Bongo 5 for Christmas. She told me to write down the details of the bass so I did, just thinking she was trying to humor me. So I leave on Friday with a Bongo 5 on the brain. When I arrive home on Sunday my mom says, guess what. Of course I said what, and this was her reply. I have heard you talk about ordering your basses from Bass Central, so I got on the net Saturday and found Bass Centrals website, and.... I ordered you a single humbucker Bongo 5.

Well it came last night and I must say. This has to be the best Christmas present I've ever gotten. The bad news. I have to wait till christmas to gig with it.

Heh--she bought you the one I was planning on buying from them. I'm glad--I didn't have the funds, and I STILL was scheming to get it.

Congrats, and nice bass!

Thats funny bassmonkee. Its a good looking bass and it sounds great. My hat goes off to Beaver Felton, he gave my mom a GREAT deal.

How's it sound compared to a SR(5)?

Its sounds more "StingRay" than my ex HH Bongo, but it still has that beefy edge that makes Bongos sound different the Rays. I will say that it has a bit more lows and low mids than a StingRay 5.

There's something about the single H Bongo that just "does it" for me. I love how they look.

Me too Andrew. I dig this desert gold, tort, single H model very much.

Jack does need one of those. They really do sound different than the 2 pup Bongos...As Dargin says, it is the unsung hero of the Bongo line

as to this "unsung hero" business.... you and Jack will most likely beat me to it 'Monk but I'm getting a premonition... I see Santa of 2005 not getting down the chimney on account of a single H Bongo...4 !?!?! :D ;)

Having already owned a Bongo 4HH, I have to admit that I am partial to the Single H tone.

I better stick with the SR 5 since I need one of each kind of Bongo when I go that way. BTW, my SR 5 just shines in the world of basses. EB couldn't have done any better!!
