For me, personally, I use the buckle section facing the rear of the guitar.

I guess it would depend on how low you want the guitar to go too!

I usually put the branding on the top horn. The EB nylon straps can be extended bit longer than other brands, and when I adjust the strap to my preferred height it puts the buckle right over my shoulder - sometimes that is uncomfortable so in those cases I put the branding on the bottom of the guitar.

For leather straps I always put the adjustable portion (thin part) on the bottom of the guitar.

I agree with Pete. It seems most local bands I see choose the other way around though, and I don't understand their logic LOL. To each his own though.

You put your head through the hole so the strings are AWAY from your body. :p

*lol*

To be serious....isn't it sort of each and everybody's own choice how to "wear" the strap? In the ancient times, I followed the rules always, but some straps were just not comfortable the way they were supposed to be slung. Others didn't even work (especially some leather straps) the way they were supposed to be slung. So just try to find the most comfortable position for yourself....(no, no need for second thoughts to be added here :D )
