Hello everyone,
I was curious to know if anyone could shed some light on my question; How close is the previously, discontinued gunsmoke metal finish VS. the new sterling silver finish? I am considering a 7 string purchase of a Petrucci model guitar. I absolutely love the 7 string guitar finish (gunsmoke) he played on the live for budokan DVD.

I think it looks close, but cannot tell for sure. Below is a picture of a 7 string sterling silver guitar. Thanks for your help

I think the Sterling silver is a bit brighter. I've seen sterling silver in life on a luke, haven't seen gunsmoke. But from the pics I'm looking at, it appears that the sterling silver might have a little sparkle to it and glimmers a bit more in the light.

Gonna need Ernie to chime in on this one considering he's probably the only person that owns a Gunsmoke JP7 aside from JP :p

While I do have one of them Gunsmokes, my pics kinda suck. As Scoobs said, the new silver is more "metallic" while the Gunsmoke is kinda flat, kinda like that silver testor's model paint I used back when on those model battleships. Here's some good pics I remember from a joint that had one for sale back in '01. I used the way back machine to retrieve the page
