First off, the guys took the strings off it, so there is a possibility that the neck is damaged, if I understand correctly. How bad can it get and can it be fixed?

Second, the pickup config has been altered, so it would cost me to restore it. Is it posible to order a replacement pickguard from EBMM?

Do you think it's worth an effort at all?

Thanks in advance

Well the strings aren't on the guitar when it's being built, so unless the truss rod is under some wicked tension, I wouldn't really worry about it. When I change the strings on my guitars, I usually do them all at once (not on the JP though, don't want the trem to flop about and chip the paint)

This is an old six-bolt Silhouette, and though it's seen some changes, these things were built to last. My only concern would be the neck - both backbow and fretwear. If you can't satisfy yourself that the neck is in usable condition by talking to the seller, then I would recommend you walk away, unless you feel the that the price is low enough to make it worth the risk. You should know that the pickguards on the six-bolt Sil. are different than on the five-bolt model currently in production. Also, there is a difference between the stop-tail and floyd-equipped model pickguards. What that means is that you'll probably have to get a new pickguard custom cut for you based on the existing one, and that's a $40-$50 proposition, so keep that in mind if you decide to bid...

One last thing; as good as the older models are, a comparison of older and newer Silhouettes done by Guitarist Magazine a couple years ago opined that EBMM have improved the Silhouette in a number of subtle ways, which have resulted in a meaningful difference between the models. Quote: "This early bird is discernably less refined than later versions... at odds with the super smooth results we've come to expect from this US maker."

Thanks Jimi D. I've sent the guy a message asking when he took the strings off and whether he adjusted the truss rod when he did that. He states frets are in good condition.
Cutting the pickguard isn't that big of a deal, I can do it myself even. However I want to recreate original H-S-H configuration, which means I'd have to invest close to 200 in pickups (I wouldn't keep the SD's I don't think) , tone pot and 5-way switch + probably some shielding. So that brings the price up + add my time to do all the mods... Doesn't seem like that good of a deal any more...

It is the red one.

In short - affordable Silo. I've tried one at Pete's store, and it felt significantly more comfortable then the SUB due to contoured body.
Most likely I'll just wait till something better shows up.

Hello,
It has not been long since the strings were off.I did it to add a tone pot and 3way switch but now I am moving and just need to get rid of some gear so I do not have to store it.

Got this from the seller. Not very reassuring. I probably should walk away from this.
