Thanks~ I am going to purchase a new axe. Just want to know the tone and everything of Luke. I am using MESA amps now. I want to get really sweet and smooth tone for pop, rock music via this new axe.

Thanks!~

positions 3,4,5 are excellent sweet sounding tones.

positions 1,2 (humbucker, humbucker/middle) better for higher gain stuff imo.

No idea on the Anderson

The main thing to consider between the two would be the pickups. The Luke uses active EMG's while Anderson uses their own passive pickups. Both are fine guitars, just consider what pickups will deliver what you want.

But if you DO decide to go the Anderson route, I urge you to check out Zion first. Very similar styles, but I've always found Zion to be a tad nicer.

Which is great considering this is an EBMM forum....not a Z-box or a ArbyTon website...as N. Dynamite says "Gawwwwwwwwwwwddddddddddddd!" :(

to me, an ernie ball is a better choice...you get the chance to have a really good neckwhatever model you buy, with an anderson, there are many profiles, so, you have to really search !

anderson have no probmems of quality or whatever, tops are amazing...but, I think it is really expensive...

here are two a couple of videos to compare...

Tristan's right about the neck profiles...they offer several, also pound for pound dollar for dollar, there isn't a company that puts out a high quality toneful instrument at it's price point like EBMM does...barnone, I'll bet my shorts on that.

100% agree -for the price, EBMM are the best quality you can get - it takes a major price hike to get something even close

I tried 5 Andersons, and 2 Tylers, before ordering my Luke. In terms of actual build quality, the Luke is every bit as good. You don't get all the nice trimmings with the contoured quilt top (hugely expensive to make) and abalone bindings etc, so that's why EBMM can cost out the Luke at half the Anderson. In fact, every Anderson I tried had serious earthing problems so make sure you try before you buy. I haven't had a single problem with my Luke.

In terms of neck, the Andersons I tried were all very similar.Very thin neck but they were also quite flat, more like a Petrucci or Jem slimmed down. The Luke might be small in width but at least has the V shape to add some body to the neck. The action of all were similar though. Not the lowest but these aren't really shred machines. Tone wise, I never got a chance to try the Switcheroo system so I compared like to like...Drop Tops and Classics, hollow and solid but all were HSS. The Andersons are far closer to a strat in sound. The have a hollowness that's fine for light rhythm but he Luke has a lot more body and warmth to it's single coils. Perhaps not as wide a frequency spread and less treble, but that's what I wanted. If you go onto the humbucker of the Luke and crank up the gain, it'll eat an Anderson for lunch. Seriously, the sheer depth of the EMG isn't matched by the Anderson humbucker. In fact, if you read Harmony Central reviews, most TA owners actually replace the pickups very quickly after wards, usually for Suhrs. At the price, I expected it to be better to be honest. Beautifully built, but so is an EBMM. The only advantage I found was cosmetic. Plug them in and the Luke won hands down for me :D

That's all there is to say really - the Luke does sound amazing - neck too small for me, but it does play very well. I'd take a Luke over an Anderson

I can't compare an Anderson to a Luke all that much. I tried a Luke, did not like the feel of it. I used to own an Anderson.

One thing I did that was mentioned earlier was, I changed out the humbucker and replaced it. I did not like the one on the Anderson. However, it had the switcheroo which I really liked and it was a tone monster.

I play with quite a bit of distortion and the Anderson was fine. It is a great instrument. However, I gave it to my friend who was in need.

I have my Petrucci's (even then) and when it came time to part with a guitar for my buddy, the Anderson went. My friend, was very appreciative. He loved my Mystic Dream Pet probably the best, but, I ain't gettin' rid of my EB's.

I like the sound of the Luke and the Anderson. The Luke just did not fit me as well as the Anderson.

Both are great guitars. Price wise, get the Luke. Anderson guitars, while they are awesome and look great, are not worth the price tag that comes with them in my opinion. I have 3 Pets that would beat them down and I can get 2 of the JP's for the price of 1 Anderson and be twice as happy!
