I have to be quite honest, I wasn't blown away. It didn't really impress me at all, great guitar though, don't get me wrong. I'm leaning more towards my standard loaded JP6 over all of the balls that I've owned. I still love the tone and looks of my BFR's, but the JPXI just didn't do it for me as I had hoped. To each his own I guess..

Now on another note, after I was done with the JPXI and some random 50's RI Lester, I got handed a rosewood Albert Lee and WOW! One killer neck on that thing, great feel and tone out of it. I almost considered taking it home but my wife called me and brought me back to reality. It was fun to dream a little and play that thing... I will be back to play that again.. What's the deal with those? Pickups in them are pretty sweet and I love the push/pull. The rosewood neck is the only one I've tried out, and from what I see they come in various flavors.

What makes you prefer a loaded JP6 over the JPXI? Just looking for more details.

The neck just feels the most comfortable to me on a JP6. the wax/oil blend feels the best. I also like the radius on the fretboard of a JP6, over the flatter radius of the JPXI. I'm not in any way saying that the JPXI sucks at all, it just didn't pull me in like a JP6 did when I first got my mitts on one, very well like the Albert Lee did. I do like the finish on the JPXI, and the SS frets, ebony board, etc. Maybe I just need to spend more time on it. When I got back to play the AL, I'll give the JPXI another shot with an open mind.

As I've always said, the AL has the best neck! :)

What's the deal with those AL necks? Can they or have the same necks been used on any other Ernie Ball model? I have to agree that those necks are the best! and, the rosewood neck is just amazing!
BTW, the model that I played yesterday was the HH Albert Lee, it was a light blue color, rosewood neck.

Hope you end up getting an AL. For me there is really not much between an AL and and Axis neck. The Luke and JP6 necks are so different to the AL. Can't really comment on a Silo/Morse as I haven't played them much.

But those oiled Al necks are just sublime!!

You know what, I feel the same way. I love my BFR, it sounds amazing and practically plays itself. But when ever I just want to play guitar, I always reach for my Standard JP6. It's just so comfortable, and the neck feels amazing without a finish on it, and the arm cutout is just perfect for extended practice sessions.

I tried a JPX after I had bought the BFR, and the chambering is nice and the ebony board is slick, but it just felt odd to me to have a 5 way switch instead of the perfectly (for me) positioned 3 way toggle.
