Got home from work and changed into my Jeans and my EB "That Top Sucks" T Shirt.

Front door bells rings and I open the door to greet 2 evangelists. One is an elderly gentleman and the other a youngster.

I spend some time with them and as I bid farewell the youngster says "Hey nice T shirt" - I kind of looked embarrassed and gave a full blown explanation of Ernie Ball - guitars-nice tops-joke phrase.

So I guess I spread "the word" to them!!;)

Anybody else have a story to tell about their That Top Sucks shirt ?

my bass player wore his shirt to a show a few weeks ago and the girls all thought that the shirt was referencing THEIR, ummmm, "tops." He explained what it meant and the girls said that they liked what they thought it meant, better. :D

So what does it mean?

It all goes back to when EB released their BFR range of guitars.

A particular problem arose when people started judging the appearance of the guitar by viewing bad photos on the inter web rather than actually seeing them in the flesh. - It got to a stage when someone said that the EB BFR's didn't look very good and that the tops "sucked".

As people on the forum started buying the BFR's and showing good photos of them someone said that "that Top Sucks" - a term of endearment and the saying has suck .. sorry stuck ;) EB had some T shirts done and I have one.

I trust my memory is ok on this?

I also bleeb it's a reason for having a sticky on the forum showing good quality photos of the BFR tops

When I first joined the forums, this madness was going around like crazy. I need to get my hands on one of these shirts!

(OT btw anyone remember the wet t-shirt photo someone posted, and it turned into a "that top sucks" thread?)

Any time I wear my "That Top Sucks" or my "Pusmfest" T-Shirts I am amazed that no one asks. I guess people just don't want to talk to me.:(

Funny NorM as I get asked "Do you judge at strip clubs or something?" all the time....lol.

I also like the EBMM Fanboy Shirt.

Haven't worn the shirt in a while...
And I think i told this story before, but I ran into Mitch Albom, sports guy and author (Tuesdays w/ Morrie, 5 people you meet in heaven) at a local eatery in town. Went up to him and asked if when he was done with dinner would he mind signing an autograph for my girlfriend. He was having dinner with his wife and another couple.

Mitch said he could sign something now, its no bother. So as he was scribbling on a cocktail napkin his wife wanted to know what THAT TOP SUCKS meant? Its an inside joke about the tops of these guitars I play.

Mitch also is a piano player from way back and is in or was in a jam band with Stephen King and some other writers. Be kinda cool to get him to the next Bash EB throws.

Some people laugh at mine, telling me they think it's funny or "cute," but few have ever asked me what the heck it meant.

I am not sure if they are still available. I think they were only for the Forum Bash out in the desert. Don't quote me...there might be a few floating around.
