I intend to buy a JPXI soon. I will have to check it in for an international flight. Looking at pictures, it seems to me that the original JPXI hardcase is covered in leather or similar, but there is a musicman hardcase that is plastic looking. Are they both equaly resistant?

Also, are the locks integrated to the original JPXI case TSA aprooved?

For protection I would take the molded SKB type standard cases any day. The fancy G&G type the JPXI comes in just doesn't hold the guitar as secure. Both have locks but neither are TSA approved.

Any BFR line JP (JPX, XI, BFR) will come with the G&G case. For me the SKB is better: lighter, durable, snug fitting.

Yes a 7 string JPXI should fit in the SKB case. As far as after market cases I would look into SKB. I really like their stuff. Very durable and not over priced. Some of their aftermarket stuff should have TSA locks as well.
