With full fledged humbuckers? I wonder how well it would do heavy rock with the swamp ash. I've got bad Music Man gas since I've tried an Axis sport, forgive me

Sweet Pete DuBaldo has an AL that was equipped with a factory installed humbucker in the bridge position. It was a special order for someone so if you wanted something along those lines, it's up to you to score an AL, find a good tech and go for it. Personally, the MM90's in my AL sound amazing in a heavy rock setting. The can pull off everything from Alice in Chains to Tool....of course I'm using a 5150 so

Cool. I never tried any the soapbars though. Actually are there any clips around of the MM90's with the AL doing rock? Although the single coils have a really nice clean sound, so how do the 90's rank up in that area?

Personally, I'm a big fan of the single coils (even with a lot of gain). But the MM90s are really nice.
But if your main goal is heavy rock, you might really want to think about putting in HBs. You can always go the single-coil sized HB route.

Yeah I thought about the stacked coils, they work pretty nicely although the hb's have more choice ofcourse.
I wish I could try out more Music Man's here, the stores near me don't seem to have any..

I have found that using the MM90's in position 2 & 4 yields quite a sexy clean tone. I was surprised and have been using that setting quite a lot lately. It's nice when you accidentally discover a sweet setting on your guitar, instant inspiration to try new things.
Personally, I think the MM90's blow away the G*%#*n versions.

What's a "G*%#*n version"? You mean the single coils I guess, but that part escaped me
After your reply in the other thread I think I could stripe out the MM90's unless I played or heard them at least. Solely because of the routing.

positions 2 and 4 on my MM90 AL sound the same as on my SSS AL ( but beefier), but nothing like an Axis Super Sport w/MM90's, the AL kicks ass, and the ASS! I would have no hesitation about buying another MM90 AL. or seven.
