Got offered a new gig and after lot of reflection I'm taking it.

Just got off the phone with one of the members of the band I'm leaving soon to personally describe the change and why I'm taking it("I want you to hear it from me not someone else"). He was real dissapointed as he loved playing with me (as do I with him). He understood, but I felt bad nonetheless. I really like the band I'm leaving, I just think this is something I have to do. I expressed how much potential I saw in the band and and that me leaving wasn't due to me being unhappy.

Breaking up is hard to do

I think he's gonna miss my Musicman tone too

I'm in the same predicament right now. I'm trying to play both sides of the fence for as long as possible. I'm kind of a self masochist.

Easier and way faster. It's happened many times for me.

You did the right thing.

I almost did something similar about 3 or 4 months ago, and am glad I didn't. My band picked up a rhythm guitarist/lead singer 2 months ago, and now we're on a roll adding 2-3 new songs a week. This is great considering we only managed a whopping 16 or 17 songs in a 4 month period prior to him coming on board. We should be ready to play crappy dive bars in another 4 or 5 weeks, and we're all getting along great. :)
