I'm gla that it has so much sentimentalvalue that you are changing it already. It would be like Elvis giving you a car and having Mobay immediately repaint it. BTW I'm not Elvis but can fit in some of his late life jumpsuits.

 Come to think of it, marriages have broken up for less reason than this.

Hey Jack ~ I can see BP giving you the evil eyelid with this one.

More like re-programming the radio stations.

Or maybe putting different hubcaps on it.

Have you been trying on the Elvis jumpsuits again?

What type of pickguard do you recommend for the graphite pearl color - black looks okay but I may want to change it out? Also what kind of strings sound best? Do flatwounds sound good on a SR? Thanks again for all of your input!
Absolutely *must* try some strings before you write it off. You put some flats on a hot ax like a Ray and the earth moves. You don't live in california do you? The reason Rays are shipped with roundwounds is that they are built in california. Testing every MusicMan built, using flats, would probably cause half of california to slide into the pacific.

OK, so it's not a burst finish, it's gray. Put a red tortise PG on it. If you ask, someone here will photoshop you some PG options on a gray Ray. You just got here. Welcome to the hotel california ..... you can never leave.

Welcome!

Speaking of flats, I'm going to put a set on my Bongo in just a few.
Have you had your house foundation inspected before you do that ?

........What's interesting about that, Todd, is that we play a boatload of early 60s rock and some Hank Williams and even some stuff from the 20s and 30s (we put our own spin on it, mind you). My partner Brian is always hoping that I'll eventually play the Jazz bass or something less, um, 'modern' looking, .......
Yeah, that schtick. I walk in before my friend's gig and he's at the bar, semi-wasted but salvageable. He does not make a habit of playing drunk, but sh!t happens. He says "You gotta play the 1st set for me and then I can take over".

So I go get my own ax [an 'interesting' and rather 'unique', very non-F*nd*r ax] from the car and he says "Graham's NEVER gonna let you go on with THAT! Play my P-bass". Graham is John Tischy's son [Commander Cody] and a chip off the old block. No little black Steinies on *his* stage.

Clearly such marriages were cobbled together "for less reason than this" in the first place.

Re-programming the staions I would think would be like changing the tone. Replacing about 1/3 of the face of a bass, would definitely be more like repainting or changing it's visual personality. Just my opinion. ;)

I'm looking at your saddles. They are very high and the string height at the end of the neck seems high also. But, as you said, could be the angle. Just an observation, no offense, OK?

Troublemakers!

He's just yanking my chain. He knows I love him. NOT IN THAT WAY.

I just have a deep-seated need to change pickguards. I have TEN PICKGUARDS just hanging around the house. Even I don't know how I got that many. They're stuck to the wall like art. I even have a Sterling (bass, not human) pickguard up there. It's been a LONG time since I had a Sterling (bass, not human).

Hey Jack.

Did I hear someone say that you need your new bass painted? I'll come by and pick it up. What color green do you want? :p

Actually he is sending it to Moto junkie to have a second pickup added. Moto will then forward it on to you for paint.

Since it seemed like a good deal, and since the bass sounded great I bought it. I'm still kind of thinking about the J though.

Go see your doctor immediately Mr. Sanchez. Sounds like you have a terrible case of G.A.S.!!!
