HD-500 compression... am I just crazy?

I've been playin' around with my HD-500 the past several days and noticed that the comp light isn't coming on at all when I play. It lights for a second or 2 when I power it up, but after that, nothin. Is this normal, or should I contact customer service?

id suggest contacting cs to get a manual for it..
as far as i can make it from the schematics there is a switch for it somewhere, but my knowledge isnt good enough to make any more of it

ps: the good news is that the schematics are aviable on the net so you can have any good electronics repair man do the work
