I think that Bongo HS dings are so prevalant due to the design that they are pretty much an accepted thing in the resale market.

I dont understand dude - why just the HS? Are people more cavalier in their attitude to this particular pickup configuration?

I don't really understand this thread. I've put alot of miles on all my basses through the years. Gigging and at home. Never ever dinged one headstock. Just be aware of your surroundings.
My Bongo is still pristine.

I was in that camp a long time. Then I don't know how the Bongo got dinged on the tip but it did. I still sleep well.

I understand someone wanting to keep their bass perfect and I understand also those that just want to play them and not worry to much about the dings.

Novel idea to just have EB build the ding on the end of a Bongo headstock. LOL

i agree that headstock dings cannot be avoided. i don't have the luxury of playing on aircraft-carrier stages.

but i thought of a brilliant idea. i think i might bolt onto the headstock a very shiny, metal sharp covering.

so forget protecting the bongo from the world... the world will have to look out for the bongo.

Hehe and probably the first thing the head stock would take out would be your cab.

Okay sounds like you got it covered. How may stitches with the drummer need afer you apply that to your bass?

I am totally with keeping the bass as clean as it can be.

The old saying is true and shtuff does happen.

Your preventive measures may work great. LOL

Tight stages lead to dings. Hate of dings lead only to the creation of the word MOJO.
