An open letter to the decision makers at EBMM:

I would like to thank you, from the bottom of my heart and my wallet, for not offering the Game Changer on either a Big Al 5 or a Bongo 5 at this time.

I further express my gratitude for your decision not to make roasted necks an option on regular production instruments for now.

Refraining from offering pearl purple on the color palette was another perfectly timed non-move.

You are protecting me from myself and ensuring domestic tranquility at a time when I should not be spending money on a new bass (all resources are committed to a new house… closing in three weeks). Had one, two or (shudder) all three occurred I'd probably be in seriously deep guano right now.

The sense of relief is nearly overwhelming.

The best part is… I've got killer instruments to play. Life is good.

I'm with you, AD. Yeah, I got the bug for a mint green SBMM 4 banger, but I think I can survive that. What you mentioned.....not so much.

I am gonna pressure BP real hard for a Bongo or Big Al with a Gamechanger.
Sorry, but somebody's got to do it.If it ever happens, just put off any upgrades to your house. I'm sure your wife will understand.

May the Flying Spaghetti Monster bless you, Dave. By the way, Dave LaRue said to me, "I gotta get this thing in a Bongo." I said, "I feel the same way, but frankly, Sterling is much more likely to actually pay attention to you."

Now there are two Daves in the win column!

:D

Adouglas, MM releases the gamechanger, the greatest instrument of all time and you complain it's not in a bongo? Turn down the mind control or better yet leave it in your old house when you move. The gamechanger is the new mind control.

You know what?, ...that't exactly what I was thinking about, especially after tried one Classic 5 recently!
It would be really nice to have one in natural with flame maple neck/board! :)
And Bongo HHp in this new Orange color would looks killer with one of perloid pick guards! ;)

it will be awhile before it surfaces in anything else

Wild guess...

Next winter NAMM. That gives the GC* time to gain traction, and also allows the company to devote resources to promoting it that might otherwise be used in adapting an existing model to use it. Plus, there's a built-in exciting introduction at the big event.

Further wild guess...

First out of the box will be the Big Al. Similar layout to the Reflex. (Actually that's more wishful thinking than logic...)

It's all good. Waiting builds character.

*So if there's a Guitar Center special-edition Game Changer, will it be the GCGC? GC squared?

The Big Al would be my first guess a well as the next body type.(If there ends up being another). The GC is such a mind blowing instrument I would be really happy with it as is.

The affording it part is more of an issue with me rather than which bass it's in.

I would want a fretless version though:)
