Fourth of July Download :)

Added a 4th of July FREE Download!

http://www.soundclick.com/util/downloadsong.cfm?id=5118637
Here is download link to our tune, Bionic Hillbilly, which is about and dedicated to the fallen SEALs of Operation Redwing as well as the lone survivor (as in the book). The first solo is by Scott Lerner. Also, the leadsheet to this one is available on the HWM band website in the members area.

Enjoy,

Happy Fourth of July!

John

AND

Hectic Watermelon Direct Download

The Hectic Watermelon album with Jerry Goodman (Dregs, Mahavishnu, etc) with an extra live track is now available as a download DIRECT from the band website for $6.99. This will stay in effect until my album with Marco Minnemann is released. That date is still TBD as the album is part of a crazy multi-album group release with Mike Keneally, Alex Machacek, Marco, so there are still some other moving parts. :)

cheers,

Just downloaded the track, thanks very much John. Your playing is amazing. Is the solo pure improvisation or do you have it in your head?

Thanks, well the first solo is Scott Lerner tearing it up. And he took a few passes - developing the ideas each time. This was one of the last ones. As for my solo - the evil wah solo - I intentionally wanted something that would provide an acceptable contrast to everything else going on in this nutty tune and also be semi-melodic. I recall this one came pretty quickly but I'd spent some time the day prior jamming over the solo section. Here is an early rough mix of the solo section you can play over. Have fun!
