im harimau from malaysia a newbie to musicman and the forum .

ive played several musicmans from silhouette to jp to bfr jp and all i can say is musicman is the best guitars ever made

i own two esp s, gibson, squier, martin, ibanez, but i love the musicman a lot

so now ive set my eyes on this one jp6. the colour is dargie delight with ebony board and unfinished headstock. my question is, is the guitar a bfr ? it seems to have the same spec like the ebony board and different inlay going . and on the neck plate it saye limited edition.

musicmans are very expensive in malaysia. ill probably get it in a year or so . hope everyone can help me thank you

BFRs have painted necks and no forearm scoop. The guitar you have seen is most likely a non custom-shop version.

The "normal" JP6's are very tight-playing little machines. It is quite a bit like an Ibanez Prestige guitar in general feel, but much more well-made.

MrLoveJoy, EBMM doesn't have a Custom Shop. Not all of the BRF JP's have painted necks either man. The newer BRF's seem to have them, the JPX an some of the one offs.

The Dargie Delight 2 is the one you are talking about, they built all of them, so if you want one, you'll need to find one from a shop or Ebay.

Well I assume the BFRs had the new design by the time the first DD run came to be.


The "custom-shop" line is what I call any company's highest production line of instruments. Gibson, Fender, or ESP has their "Custom" line, Ibanez has its "J. Custom" line, EBMM has their "Ball Family Reserve," etc. I will just call them BFRs now to avoid confusion.

And it is just "Lovejoy," one word, my last name. Just FYI.

NP man, it tends to confuse people, because they want special made one off, that EBMM only does for artists and special runs.

I posted it as MrLoveJoy because that's what your username is. But I'll just post it as LoveJoy in the future man.

The BFR moniker can be confusing. There are guitars with only a rosewood neck that are called BFR's, and at the same time, the HH Al is not a BFR but has rosewood neck (and mahogany body) but the Luke BRF is with rosewood neck can be just the rosewood neck, but a Koa BFR luke has the Koa top, painted neck and Mahogany tone block.

I'm probably inaccurate in some of the above, but that's because I'm easily confused. I'm able to keep the Al BFR straight since (I think) it came one way and one way only. Pinkburst over quilt with the tone block and maple/maple neck.

There are a few BFR Rosewood neck AL's out there...

I understand your confusion but actually it's quite easy with the BFR line...they're whatever BP and crew want them to be...so it's not always a matter of premium maple tops and tone block but it's always something special.

hey there fbecir . come to malaysia . its good food all day and night . the only thing im not happy about in malaysia is the guitar price . especially a musicman . one musicman here would cost 2 in the US
