Hi I am new to the forum. I posted a thread asking about a guitar. I guess it is not allowed or under review. I am in Nevada and a human who is in the process of negotiating a package deal that includes a 03/31/1999 Axis Sport HH Hardtail Trans Gold and had some questions. I asked in my last thread not sure why I cannot see my thread.

Ok Thanks DrKev I figured it was a moderation thing, understandable. Just looking for info on a guitar I am negotiating purchase of and you guys seem to have the info that is eluding me online. Lots of Super Sports very little Axis Sport info.

Exhead, try searching "Axis Sport" with the quotes, there is tons of info on them. EBMM best kept secret. Whatcha wanna know?

Axis Sport models are some of my favorites. I have 3. 1 HH and 2 HSS. One is going to be turned into a Tele.

Hi Exhead

the Sports are really great guitars. On one hand, they were intended to be offered as a kind of less costly made alternative to the Axis model. IIRC, this was even before the Super Sports were intriduced!
But on the other hand EBMM made them somewhat special in adding the 5way switch and using ash for the body.

People seem to hold onto them, because the used market for these (at least in Germany or Europe) is basically non existent.
I'd consider a trans gold HH one quite rare, so if you can get it, and it is in decent shape, go for it!

I just read your other thread, Exhead. You mention, the pickups are Duncans.
They originally came with Dimarzio Customs, which are considered to be one of the best sounding high output* humbuckers available, and unfortunately Dimarzio won't sell them outside a EBMM guitar. They make a huge part of the magic of these guitars.
I would pay less if it hadn't the Dimarzios in it.

* they are high putput, but due to pretty large string distance significantly sound not as hot as you would expect, really well-balanced

I believe the neck pickup is original but the bridge is a Seymour Duncan unknown model.

Thanks for the link. It has a lot of info but does not mention the hardtail model.

Question: If the DOB is 03/31/1999 is that a 1999 or 2000 model?
