On my JP6 I'm seeing almost no relief in the neck (< sheet of thin paper) on the 7th fret when holding down 1st & 13th - with no pressure on the neck. i.e. the truss nut is very loose.

This is stringed with 10's and normal bridge+saddle height.

Is this normal?

because necks are made of wood........the amount of availible relief ends up slightly varying from neck to neck. & it varies from climate to climate. is your action too low for u ? unless your a heavy handed player......just a little relief shound be all u need. most pet owners like thier action super low......

sounds normal to me.........
is the action where u like it ???????
w/ the higher humidity season almost upon us......i would look for your action to slightly raise some by it's self ....as the humidty softens up yer neck during the summer months.... thus allowing the strings to bow yer neck slightly easier. (normal too).
if u end up feeling yer neck actually has a problem........call ebmm customer service & use them . they like being used. :D

thanks Tommy.

Reason I was asking is cos I do expect it's the neck. With no truss-rod pressure, the relief is almost nothing a between 6-8 frets, action on low-E at 12th is 3mm! Bridge is flush with the body. Saddles are fine, heigth proportional to radius...

..and buzz everywhere up the fret.

If I wasn't 5500 miles away I would have shipped it to EB for a look-over. I'll drop 'em an email and see what they recommend.

sorry........i didn't realize u were overseas.

it's really difficult to instruct someone how to perform a good setup.
there is so many cause=effect things to consider before the proper action can be taken......
