Hi now i need help again:)

My friend couldnt get any guitar from the USA for me, that was to bad.

But now ive got another question.
I´m want to buy a Luke guitar but they are so expensive here in Sweden and now i have 2 options.

Ive got one Luke 1 model with floyd trem for 1600 dollar. That guitar i used.

Or i can buy a brand new luke II (vintage trem) for 2120 dollar.

I dont know what to choose. Should i go for the Luke 1?
I havent tried any luke before but i have the opportunity to try the Luke 1.
The Luke 2 will be shipped from the US so i wont b able to try it.

What do you guys think?
Is the luke 1 as good as the Luke II?

What would you choose in my position?
Im not made of money:( Thats too bad!

I have attached a picture of the Luke 1.

Im thinking of Carbon Blue Pearl, Luke Blue or Vintage sunburst.

Does anyone have a picture on a Carbon Blue Pearl guitar?

Please post some pictures on you luke guitars here.. it may help me to choose color.

Yes i have used the color chart. But i want to see some "real" pictures of the color.

ive also used the search function but couldnt find what i was looking for. im going to check it out again.. maybe ive missed something.

What do you think Bing should i go for the brand new Luke?
You seem to have a lot of experience of these guitars.

Im also asking the same question to you Kbaim if you ever read this thread.

Would be nice to hear your opinions.

I have never owned a Luke. I loved wathcing Jamie Lee Curtis play one in "Freaky Friday" though. :D

There are many folks on here that own a lot more EBs than I do and have a lot more experience with them.

I can't answer the "new/used" question for you. You have to make the decision of whether choosing the exact options you want is worth the extra $$$. I chose to by a new Axis SS to get a piezo and to get the color I wanted and I don't regret the decision.

I do like the carbon blue color.

I can't tell you if luke 1 is better than luke II...it only depends on what you like most to play and how you feel comfortable.

the single coils are different according to emg website...they changed because of lukather will.

the luke 1 hasn't the tone pot so if you use it......

but the most important thing is the bridge...

if you play with dive bomb bendings ala steve vai i think you need a floyd rose... if you don't use the bridge a lot or you use to detune your guitar playing live it's better the vintage trem.

I prefer the luke II... i use tone pot i often drop the guitar playing live and i hate floyd roses ( they kill tone!!!!)

I've never seen the carbon blue "live"
like you i live in europe (italy) and here are easy to see only black and luke blue.. some colors are not imported at least....

I hope it was good for you

Well i really hope that i could get a Carbon Blue Pearl that, would be really nice.

Ive decided to buy the Luke II.
I will order it today.

I havent had a guitar with a floyd before so the vintage trem is my choice.
it will be mouch easier changing strings and so on.

The Luke is shipped with floating trem right?
Do you guys who own a luke have it floting or next to the body?

Do you think that it will go out of tune if i do some dive bombing?
Well it must stay in tune if i whammy quite "normal" or?

I dont want a guitar that goes out of tune easy! But after what it heard it wont.

Went through exactly the same questions a year or more ago! And rather bizarrely ended up with an Ibanez Universe instead:eek:

Back on the Luke track though, to add to the Universe (which is rather lovely and far better than the Jem I had before it).

Apparently the Luke 1 has a slightly warmer tone compared to the brighter Luke 2. I expect the differences are marginal though. Floyd Roses are a pain to tune though, even without using downtuning live, as they never seem to stabilise. Personally I'm going for a Luke 2.

As for colour, was going to get Blue Dawn until I realised that they've stopped making them...aaaaargh. Looks like Candy red or Carbon Blue then.

yeah i think is the best choice.....

my trem is floating , i have 10-46, 3 springs

if you have the strings well mounted on the tuning key you can make dive bombs without problems ...the strings come back without problems..

It stay in tune very well, better than any strato or floyd rose guitar.

it's a great guitar for modern rock tunes and has awesome cleans

actually is not the guitar for the darkness songs

:D

Colors:....

i think carbon blue could easily be imported like red pearl, white, black, luke blue and so...
i remembered that i wanted egyptian smoke and it wasn't imported in italy

so for every doubts or questions about luke please ask me when you want

Hi victor,

I'll throw in my 2 cents as I own 3 luke 2's, all vin trem. (btw JDOUGLEE has more experience with lukes and possibly more informed opinions than me).

The 2 lukes I got back in '02 (1 was special ordered) both play, sound and feel exactly the same. The neck carve (smallish grip)and exquisite tone sold me on the one in the store (purple) and made me want one in my favorite guitar color ever (blue dawn). When the blue dawn came in (3 mos), I had grown very attached to the purple one (store loaned it out to me while I waited), so I bought it as a backup. Both of those colors are now unavailable.

Then I fell in love with the Piezo sounds on my axis ss and found out that lukes can be ordered with piezos. So I did. That guitar just arrived march 11. Took 5 months as it was a trans color (sunburst) that required nicer wood than other painted over finishes.

It's everything I was hoping for, I love playing it and writing songs on it, and ernie ball employees really have been especially nice to me, I can't thank them enough.

But I will tell you that the neck on this new luke feels different. A bit (thicker) more like my Steve Morse than the other Lukes. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if more players would actually prefer it to the small Luke neck on my others. And it's still way slimmer than strats and les pauls and prs necks.

I'd order it again in a second even with the slightly different feel.
It's just a really great instrument.

Good luck whatever you decide. LUke blue is actually a grayish color. And if you do any fingerpicking or will be using clean tones quite a bit, I'd tell you to get the piezo. It really adds a number of tones to an already great sounding guitar.

See above post for sunburst luke.

The blue dawn Luke is pictured in the blue dawn thread.

KEITH

Hey victor, by the way, did you try calling Peelers music in toledo, ohio usa? They had a blue dawn piezo luke in stock about 5 months ago. Not sure what condition it would be in.

Ive decided now and i will go for the Luke II.
But it is already in sweden so i dont have to import it.. that is great. But i dont know what color that is available. i dont think thats a problem though most of the colors on the Luke are fine:)

By the way Kbaim ur vintage sunburst Luke is one of the best looking guitars ive ever seen. REALLY nice!

Hopefully i will have my new Luke in about 2 weeks:D

Will the EBMM customer service even help guys out here in sweden? I mean if something is wrong with the guitar when i get it!

Good luck with your new Luke!!

My bridge is floating. If you keep your strings stretched, and
some light oil (3 in One) at the nut, NO tuning problems. And I
do pull ups & stuff like that.

I didn't know you had a Purple Luke Keith!! Mine has the Sustainer in it :D
