Hey guys I picked up a stingray 5 a while back and I just noticed it has somewhat weird straplocks on it.

Im not sure what they are.
I know they arnt like the Schaller and Dunlop strap locks that I've played before.
And currently have on a couple of my guitars still (well not the schallers)
I looked up the ernie ball ones and its not them either.

They are a kind where you cannot use a regular guitar strap without the other end of the straplocks

also its a good excuse to post pictured of my bass ;-)
sorry the camera in my phone is kind of beat (It glitches out everytime I open the app unless I give the lens a tap or two and it doesnt focus very well close up anymore so its hard to get good close pics)

ok looking online they appear to be dunlops, is that right?
but they are different that the kind that I have (here are the ones I have. Dunlop Dual-Design Straplok System | Musician's Friend) . I wonder if they will work with mine?

These are Dunlops, named "original".
There are many different kinds: traditional, dual design, flush mount...

thank you
Do you know if the parts that go on the guitar strap will work with all of them?
The ones that I have on pretty much all my guitars are the dual design
it would be nice if I could use the same strap with these.

When I plugged them in it worked, but I wanted to know if anyone knew if it would be reliable or not

Yes, the parts that go on the guitar strap will work with all of them.

Only one model for the parts that go on the guitar strap.
Multiple models for the parts that go on the guitar.

As far as all your guitars are equiped with Dunlops you can use the same strap.

I also have some guitars with Dual Design and others with Traditional.
Here is a black Traditional on my Bongo:

A few years ago in Europe only the Traditional were available easily.
And it was almost impossible to purchase only the parts that go on the guitar.
You had to buy the whole system that is much more expensive...

The advantage of the Dual Design is that you can use it with a "standard" strap (without the Dunlop system).

Hope it helps,

thank you, it does help.

Kind of a funny story.
Ive been playing guitar since 1999 or 2000 and my first guitar was a Fender Strat which I still have but I havent gigged with since maybe 2002 so I dont really play it.
But my brother had a real estate company and we would practice in the office so I kept it there.

Ive been using the dunlops for a couple years on my gigging guitars and one day in practice I looked over at the strat and noticed it had the dual design strap locks on it the entire time.
Just weird that I had it for years and never noticed that, I had just used them as regular strap buttons the whole time.
