So, when I sell my ESP, I have every intention of buying a new MusicMan John Petrucci 6 string model, as you may or may not know.

Here is my dilemma. I love 2 colours of this guitar. The Egyptian Smoke, and Mystic Dream. I want to buy the guitar with the matching painted headstock and the inlays. The piezo isn't a neccessity, but I admit, it would be very nice to have. So, seeing as the only Mystic Dream model availible in this country at the moment has no inlay, no headstock and no piezo, i'm not gonna buy that one. However, I can get a fully loaded Egyptian Smoke model.

The dilemma is, do I go for the fully loaded ES model, or wait the 3 months and get me a Mystic Dream model? (I probably wouldn't go for the piezo option on the Mystic Dream, as the finish alone is an extra 300 big ones)

The reason for the dilemma is everyone (my friends, girlfriend etc) have heard me go on about the Mystic Dream for ages, and thing that seeing as I have owned one EBMM JP in a colour I didn't like - White Sparkle. I know by saying that, I have commited some kind of sin around here - I should get one that I absolutely love. I do love the ES, but I don't want this to happen again.

When I saw DT live though, the ES was actually the one I lusted after most so...

If you truly like them both equally, get the ES if you don't want to wait. But if you think you might like the MD a little better, wait. I thought Pete DuBaldo mentioned that he might have a MD coming in soon in the other thread you posted. That's the way I would go. Less wait, get what you want and Pete will treat you right. Send him a PM.

You know there's an upcharge for the Mystic Dream finish, right? (I think it's like USD $400 MSRP)

Maybe that will help you decide.

The piezo is worth every penny, so I would strongly recommend getting it.

If you aren't crazy about Egyptian Smoke, then go ahead and order the exact guitar you want.

Ha ha ha. True enough.

Go for the fully loaded ES. You'll love it. Funny thing about colors of guitars, they really don't matter once you start playing them.

I mentioned that I thought they weren't supposed to ship EBMMs to the UK in my e-mail to them.

I didn't get a reply to that e-mail..

They are not supposed to do that with our guitars.
Jon, you would be suprised at how many emails I get from people saying
"XXXX quoted me $xxx for this guitar and said they will ship to Australia/Croatia/England/Germany - how much is it for you to get me the same guitar and ship it?" (or maybe you wouldn't, we've discussed this in the past)

It's a bit disenheartening that some dealers can't remember or just plain old ignore the rules.... I'd love to whine about "it's not fair" but then again neither is anything in life. Oh well... All I know is that I make dead sure that any EB that is shipped out through my store goes to a US address/residence & I retain all the UPS shipping documentation :)

Settling for second best, if you can avoid it is never a good thing. I almost did that with my JP6 - I could have gotten a different color, or a Silo in the color I wanted, but I waited until the right opportunity presented itself. I found an Envy Green Limited Edition 6 string and scooped it up immediately. If I would have bought the Candy Red Petrucci or the Envy Green Silo I would have always looked at it and thought about what I really wanted. Seems silly, but I don't settle - life is tooooo short.

By the way, say hello to my new avatar - guitar kitty.

LOVE the guitar kitty... must try this with my cat. I think ol Hairy A$$ Truman might turn me into hamburger meat if I tried to make him pose with a mini guitar... :D :D :D
