Hi, I just picked up a great 2001 SR 4 string a few weeks ago. Great bass, but I noticed it cutting in and out. At first I thought I had bad cables, but after they all checked out, I figured I'd try to tighten the cable input. That didn't work either. Then I decided to check the battery compartment, and I noticed that when I opened up the compartment and jiggled it a little, the audio cutting off was definitely coming from the compartment. The battery checked out ok, but I am sort of at a loss as to how to diagnose the problem further. Should I unscrew the compartment and check any cables? Or is the battery snap loosening?

Any thoughts or insights greatly appreciated. Thanks.

i am impressed that nobody answered with well qualified guesses after the cs said they sent a pm!

I've noticed on some of my active basses with the flip out battery box that the little bronze springy tabs get pressed down over time...Like was mentioned by CS, yanking them back up (I use a crochet hook) usually helps.

One problem I had several years ago had me flummoxed for a while...I thought I had the ol' flat tab syndrome (FTS) until I found out after a fashion that not all 9v batteries are created equal...some are longer than others. the battery was too short...placing a piece of cardstock under the bottom of the battery to shim it worked great...YMMV
