Help! New guitar day... possible issue :(

Hello,
This is my 1st post. I just received a brand new (maybe??) EBMM JP6 loaded in Pearl Red Burst. What an awesome instrument! Last night I removed the rear trem cover to adjust the springs and noticed two "non-factory-looking" screw holes. This guitar was purchased from an authorized dealer as new, but they had to ship the guitar to me. Can anyone explain these holes? Any help would be great. I've never opened the back of mine but will when I get home. Chances are someone else will have answered by then. Can't really help you...sorry.... but try customer service and they will definately help you out.

that's been asked before.

those holes are from the manufacturing process. It's where the body is mounted to the machines while being cut, sanded...........whatever else.
all the guitars have them.

your guitar is new.

This has come up before - they are from the factory, not to worry.

During the buffing process they attach a chip to the body so "Ursula" (the robot buffer) can identify the instrument.

It's all part of the manufacturing process, it's totally cosmetic, and doesn't affect the instrument in any way.

I was thinking this but don't remember the holes looking like that. I stand corrected.

Those holes are where MusicMan injects the extra "mojo" into the actual body of the guitar. It's a patented and very secretive process.

So I guess technically, said guitar does exist because there is a pic of the screw holes. But come on man, you can do better than that. Post some cool pics of the whole guitar! :)

I don't know beej - it doesn't look like anything is attached to the trem cavities of the bodies in the picture.... ;) AFAIK they usually attach to the neck rout area or pickup/control cavity routs. Not saying MM didn't attach to the trem rout to do some other part of the process.............. the holes still seem a little strange and I wonder if glockaxis' axe has them?

sorry about being analytical this morning... alas... I'm unable to stop at times.....

another thing PRSKIER could do is email EBMM's Outstanding five-star Customer Service people and include the picture. Bet he'd get the straight poop straight away....

I'm really glad that the guitar wasn't misrepresented, because I really like it. The reason it seamed weird is because the holes were obviously drilled after painting... but if it is the mounting location to be used during buffing it makes perfect sense. Thanks for all of the helpful responses!

OK, just to confirm all is well I decided to call Music Man. I spoke with AJ in customer service and he was immediately able to tell me the holes are normal. It's a rare treat to get someone on the phone that knows what he or she is talking about so easily! So now all I have to do is get some pics of the guitar posted and keep enjoying it! Thanks again for all your responses. FWIW, I've had similar excellent customer service with Mesa Boogie.

Love your rig! Just a quick off-topic question; where did you get a rackstand like that? I've been looking for those for a while now.

+1 on the Mesa Boogie CS. Ernie Ball CS and Boogie CS are the two best customer teams out there in my opinion. Not to mention the fact that Ernie Ball's and Mesa's just go together and are the perfect pair. ;)
