This is a used June 2013 I can get for $1200 with case. The neck is fantastic. It's in perfect condition Except for small 1/2" neck pocket cracks on both sides of the neck. (would not show up in pictures) No flex in neck cracks and it looks like surface/finish cracks. But it still worries me. Is $1200 a good price? I missed out on one of these a couple of years ago

That seems kind of high for me. The most I have ever spent on a used axis was $1000. I've bought 6 of them used

It depends on condition and quality of the top... Relative to you. $1200 is not overpaying, IMHO. Then again, I bought 5 of my 6 Axis new, my used one is a 2012 PDN, spent $1400 on it.

Good luck!

Bring the full asking price with you but try getting the seller to knock off a couple hundred bucks... worse comes to worse, that baby can still come home with you. Beautiful guitar!

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention that it's at a local Guitar Center and they have it listed @ $1399 and I got them down to $1200. I don't think they will go any lower.

1200 for what appears to be a near mint axis? Why is this a bad deal again? The only time I see axis under 1000 is when they are "well worn"...

The bad deal part is my concern over what appears to be finish cracks in the neck pocket. How common is this?

Fairly common and not an issue at all if they are just surface cracks... the guitar looks mint and likely is perfectly fine. Nice neck!! Search surface cracks... nothing new, and nothing to reject the guitar for. Good luck.. sweet ax!!

It's not uncommon. The only time it would matter is if you were going to sell it... to a collector rather than a player. You aren't playing a "collector" price to begin with, so it doesn't really matter at all. If I were in the market, I'd pull the trigger.

Beautiful color, top, and neck you scored a great deal on a two year old guitar that looks like it rarely left it's case. Stress cracks in the neck joint will usually back off a buyer because they aren't sure if it is just in the clear coat or in to the wood. You should of been able to tell right off the bat (which I am sure you did) and saved yourself $800. Congrats!

Congrats! $1200 is a great price for that Axis. It looks brand new. Stress cracks are not a big deal to me.
