ok I found some info, it looks like this is a prize from a music festival ...

it sucks to sell it and it sucks to purchase it ...

unless BP gives a green light in that case I may give a try ;)

THis is what happens in the corporate world when you get involved with a contest that requires giving people guitars as part of the sponsorship...most could give a ratts ass and sell it on ebay. This is from the Emergenza Battle of the Bands

It's a SUB 1 that was given out as the prize for best guitarist in the 2006 Emergenza Festival Finals. I won the guitar myself for being voted "Best Guitarist In Philadelphia 2006" this past year in The Philadelphia Emergenza Finals. During Emergenza, the bands go through multiple rounds which culminates in the regional finals in a few major cities around the world (the regional finals for Washington DC, Baltimore, and Philadelphia were held at the TLA in Philly). The best dozen or so bands out of hundreds of the bands in each region participating battle it out at the regional finals until one band is chosen to go to the national finals...then the best band in the national finals goes to Germany for the world finals. My band After The Fall ended up coming in 5th, (but out of like 191 bands who started it, that's not too shabby). But the panel of judges at the regional finals also vote for best guitarist, best vocalist, best bassist, and best drummer. The winners receive prizes from the sponsors...best guitarist and bassist receive a SUB 1 guitar or a SUB 1 bass with the Emergenza stuff screenprinted on back. I have no idea what's up with the weird alien fetus logo thing though. But The guitar you have pictured is the prize for Best Guitarist in the 2006 Emergenza Regional or National Finals. Mine is Burgundy...so although the band didn't win the competition, at least I got an awesomely nice guitar out of it! I'll post pics of mine when I have a chance.

You'd think that they would be proud of the instrument... and not be so brazen and post it on a forum that gave it to you...

Know what? I personally wouldn't even think about doing something like this... its a GIANT SLAP IN THE FACE TO EBMM and ESPECIALLY BP...

I'm not the seller :D

Was interested in knowing the history of this Silo limited edition and was considering giving a try

BUT

After BP's answer I will not even give it a try ! Simple as that !

It's available on evil bay Germany if one of you would like to give it a good home, but I'd rather give my money to EBMM than to someone who don't even give a damn about EBMM

I'll take a bit of the contrarian viewpoint here and say you're the right person to purchase the guitar since you'll appreciate it for what it is, provided you can get it for an appropriate price.

I understand BP's frustration with corporate sponsorship on many levels, but, from the opposing POV. If a band is looking for exposure, I'm sure that the corporate sponsor would not necessarily be part of the decision to enter a competition. ("hey we won't enter this battle of the bands because none of us play Gi*son").

And were you go on to win some aspect of the competition and the package included say a Schecter CS-1 and a Fender Hot Rod Deville (used for example purposes only, I'm not comparing), would you feel obligated to keep that equipment if all you play are EBMM's through Marshall's. You may appreciate the prize for what it is, but if you won't use it, it provides no benefit and it's still yours to sell.

I do feel differently about have instruments custom made or one off's by request that quickly find their way to Ebay as we have seen recent threads. But after a while, even the most ardent users of any brand change their equipment even within that label.

So threeminutesboy, if you can give this Musicman a home where it will be loved, appreciated and used, I say go for it

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that BP's point was that this sort of thing comes with the territory of sponsorship and wasn't meant as any sort of condemnation of the individual who wins and sells the guitar. Perhaps it was more a reflection of the fact that events like festivals require sponsors to provide prizes as part of the sponsorship package, even though giving out guitars as prizes doesn't really do anything positive for the sponsor (in fact, perhaps it does the reverse).
