Hi, guys....
I've allways played a J-bass. Now I'm thinking or getting a stingray (I mean...WOW, I love the sound), but I know the sound posibilities of a Fender J-bass better than how to make dinner...
Can any Stingray 5 users in this forum tell me how to use the switch to get different sounds for different style of music, slap...ect.?

Please link to some sound sample if you've got some...

BTW, My currently gear is a Fender '76 Jazz, 5 string Celinder, GK 800RB, and a 4x10" EBS, plus an upright...
I play mostly Jazz, latin, but a lot of funk and rock/pop.
And LOL. First post here. :D

IMO, the H/SC Stingray 5 I played at the EBMM weekend can get closer to the Jazz Bass burp than any others.

Well I've a stingray player!

Well, I just bought a nice Stingray 5, Sunburst. Black pickguard. New fresh Dean Markley strings(except H ;-(

Now the discussion is over. I can play around with my bass...

Nice bass! I love the punchy tone of the MM pickup. IMHO the sound from the first or third position is the best. The First switch position is cool, lotta output, and the third is a bit more dark and "just let me play the bass" kinda sound...

But thanks for the advice....

LOL Rayan..

Being a fender jazz and sometimes pbass palyer for long time, I spent lots of a/b time between them after getting my stingray 5 a couple of years ago.

Love the bass, all of them actually, but the sr5 is extremely versatile.

I find the switch "up" acts similar to the pbass, bottomy and growly.

Switch down, seems like to MM pickup sound, big punchy, with a good high end crunch for slap.

The mid position , i'm still trying to figure out almost two years later ! But i still think it gets the closest to the jbass sound (warmer slap tone), but it need a bit of bass eq added to be as full as the fender jazz.

have fun

Enjoy !
