Ok, I'm not one to contest CS's schematics, but there's a twisted pair left off from both pickups. This twisted pair is the connection point of the 2 coils. If you get a push-pull pot, you literally put the pot wires on it exactly as they come off the stock pot. Next, you put the twisted pair for one pup on a "hot" post of the push pull switch and the other twisted pair on the other "hot" post. (you need a 2 pole switch). On the center posts of the switch portion, go to ground (just solder to the case of the pot). You now have coil splitting on both pickups. I have my axis setup like this and have it split with the pot pulled up. Most songs I do need lighter stuff up front going to either heavier or a lead later, so I can just whack it down and it goes to humbucker. I left everything else the same.

A regular Axis (or silo spec or Al) are far more complicated and use a 5 way switch.

I'm not good with paint editing and for some reason could not get colors.

What I'm showing is what my axis wiring looks like. There are 2 missing wires from each pickup on the schematic. These are green and red. Those are connected together at the switch. You can (hopefully) see those labeled on the switch.

For each of these pairs, they are on the top and bottom of the schematic of the switch. Each of these will then go to a top post on the push-pull pot. One on the left post, the other on the right post.

The middle posts for the push-pull pot are tied together and go to ground (bare wire).

Note that the push pull pot is drawn as seen looking from the back of the guitar. The top 2 posts (now with separate wires) are closest to the back....then the middle. You don't connect anything to the bottom 2. Below the switch part is the pot itself and it follows the stock pot wiring exactly.

I'm hoping that this is a little clearer.
